Is the power claw really that great?

Picked up a copy of American Snowmobiler 2009 buyers guide for something to read. On there test of the 2009 M8 the one tester said "In deep snow the Power Claw was consistently more than 50% better in climbing than the 08' model".

So by 50% better in climbing do they mean that its going to climb 33% further up the hill? Seems like quite a gain for just a track. Is this true or is this some of the usual BS you find in magazines?

I like how they can tell when it hasn't even been on the snow all year

imo nothing will claw fluffy powder.the attack 20 packing the pow and floating on top is the only track that ive seen that works miracles.50% higher is bs...probably:)

if you're a cat dealer you better have a ton of these sitting around in your parts dept. because they're gonna go fast.

I wasn't going to stock any but I've had so many calls I'm now going too. Not because I believe they are that great a track, just because of the volume of calls. I may even test one myself. (I ride almost every track I sell)
I think we need to see what it will do for the masses over the full riding season. It may very well be the best thing since "buttons on shirts";)
Just goes to show what a good advertizing campaign can do.:beer;

When they tested the PowderClaw they tested it against a 08 ARTCO Challenger track. This is not the Camoplast Challenger !!!!!
We have all seen how many A/C Challenger 153's and 162's are for sale in swapmeet and most are new take offs or few miles.
I would like to see what the PowderClaw would do against the real Camo Challenger. part #'s 9985 153x15x2.25 and 9986 162x15x2.25

I was able to demo ride the 09s with the new track...worked very well back to back compared to my M1000 which was stock minus some clutching. It seems to crawl very well, but the biggest difference was how it held the sidehill...very predictable...I could turn the sled back up a hill without much effort (and I have 2000 miles on my M1000). The back end sticks much better whereas last years track wants to spin out. If i had the $ I'd put up for one. Conditions were about a foot of fresh powder with packed powder under that. As for how it'll do in the deep deep...didn't get to try it in that stuff but it was impressive in the intermediate snow conditions.

Cat has been testing this track for years now and I know people that tested it most of last winter and it is an awesome track. Several who tested it also tested the Camoplast challenger extreme and said the powerclaw is a better track hands down. The track is not designed to be reversed like the attack 20. Going to be a good track. Several dealers who had modded M8's ie pipes, heads, porting, and intakes rode with the 09 M8 demo's last year and in very deep powder the 09 M8 would outclimb them because of how much better the track was. If you don't believe it talk to alpine motorsports, mountain magic, and Racinstation.

it only bs untill i see a video of 2 of the same sleds and power claw going 50% higher in the deep stuff.and that will never happen:)

I've got one sitting on my garage floor right now. Besides the outer hook design of the paddle, I see little difference from a straightened A-20. The paddles are thicker, and the track is heavier.

The earlier advertising was saying this track is comparable to adding 10 hp to the sled.

My personal experience was that the A-20 worked best in the deep stuff when flipped/straightened. I think this track will be identical when comparing the 2.

I have a 05 M7 153" it came with an attack 20. At the time everyone swore the A20 was gonna be the be all end all of tracks. IMO yes it worked good on the flat it would lift you out of the snow but it had no traction unless you flipped it around but then it would trench. I know some still swear by it but when you see nearly new A20s going for $100 bucks it answers it for me.

Then came the Maverick a few years later(there is one on my sled) with everyone saying it was a improved A20 all the benefits no downfalls. After two seasons on it leaves me wanting something else. My cousin has a M7 153 setup the same with a challenger(not a AC but the real challenger).

Now comes this new track again claiming to be the best and saying similarities to the A20 again. So I guess what I'm saying with no experience on one is until its a year old and people are still as excited about it I'm going to stick to old faithful. Hopefully I can find a good deal on a 153 2.25 challenger or a 156 2.5 challenger extreme.

any one have a atack 20 162 new for sale?

and that power claw i looked at it and the paddles are kinda bent like the a 20 i bet it would probly work like one to

I have had an attac 20 and just purchased one of the powerclaw tracks and there is no comparison between the two. The new track is nothing like the attac 20. The paddles are stiffer, much stiffer at the tip than the attac and the fingers placed on the edge. The paddles also sweep from forward to back as it goes from the edge to the middle channeling the snow towards the middle. If you think this thing is just like the attac, than you need glasses.

i said it looked kinda like an atack 20 not the fingers but the paddels

The track is much better than the attack 20, does well in the set up snow not just the powder.

Only time will tell on this one. Brings back memories of the AT20, now you almost cant give one away. We'll see.
