I just bought an 07 m8 and the forums are saying that they're sluggish. Are they really that bad? Should I sell it and get an 08 or
Are there some mods I could do to make it run strong?

No they are really not that bad, that was my previous sled. It just needs a little help in some areas mainly CLUTCHING!...get a rtk secondary kit or cpc secondary kit...they are well worth the money. You could also throw a powerclaw track on it, that would help a lot.

It’s a good Sled. :D

My wife has one and all I have done to it is a D&D y-pipe and a team clutch conversion. The sled rips pretty good now. It’s a 141 and my buddy has a 09 Dragon 800 163 with the full SLP set up on. We raced them in a meadow last year and with him ridding the dragon and me on the M8 he won, when we traded off he blew me away! I was ridding his D8 with him on the M8. (I weigh 220 and he weighs 160)

Clutch it and have a ball!
:beer;

Good sled, a little Portly...definitely needs a diet. With some clutching it will be a solid sled, add a few bolt-ons and it will be a real blast to ride. Dont forget to look into a Powerclaw track upgrade

Great sled! Just needs clutched right and the powerclaw track is a big plus. You will be fine.

Whew that's a relief. Thanks for all the advice. I'll deffinatly look into getting that secondary, a powerclaw and hopefully pipe it. I did save a lot of money by not getting the 08 after all

give it a diet, clutch, snow eliminators, power claw and you wont know the difference. you'll just have more money for fuel=more fun....

enjoy...

You will be fine. Like everyone says clutch it right amd it'll be awesome. I put an slp pipe on mine last year and loved it. If I were still riding it I'd put a powerclaw on but since it's my backup just gonna leave it. You'll love your m8 I spent 3 winters on mine and loved it! Oh yeah put some side vents on

I love my 07 . I would suggest a BDX Diamond Drive Lite , Power Claw , and a Boss seat . At 12 lbs my sled is a hand full , instant track is a lot of fun.:beer;:beer;

I had one. Its a great sled. I never bothered to have that ecu upgraded when I got the letter from AC. Turns out it was the smartest move as the one I had was more snappier the way it was according to my dealer who had some customers with some issues after ecu upgrades. Maybe thats what your hearing. My friend currently owns my old 07 and no issues to this point. Get it clutched and throw a can on and you're good to go.

It is a great sled, i loved my old 07 M8 very reliable. Once you do a little bit of clutching to them they were awesome sleds.

Adamputz- I have the same sled as you and I have been doing allot of reaseach on which helix to get from RKTeck. Kelsey recomends a 36/34 or a straight 36. If you check out his website he recommds 3 springs you can go with also. I am probaly going to go with the Cat Red-White Part #0648-114, some guys go with the Cat Sno-Pro Green part #0748-025 make sure you do not use the green Part#0648-732 some times they get mixed up because they are the same color and they throw guys over the windhield in the powder because to the wicked back shift. Speedwerk blue is also recommended.

Things to consider adding:
Snow eliminators-a must on that sled
Power Claw Track- awesome track
Secondary kit
Boss Seat-stock seat sucks!
2 Wheel Kit-noticeable difference in sidehilling and tipping sled
SLP Pipe setup- Makes it rip
Side vents- M's need to get rid of all that underhood heat
Dash Vents
Shock Tower Vents
KNEE PADS- A lifesaver, i always slide forward and bang my knees
handlebar riser to suit your height
Tunnel kit- update to the 09-10 style rear tunnel
New skis

I swear that they made two different M8's in 07. My buddy and I had the exact same sleds. The only difference was that his was green and mine was black. He would beat me every time. In a race or climing, it didn't matter. I weigh a good 40 pounds more than him, so I that was the deal. So we swaped sleds and then I would beat him every time. I put the RK Tek secondary, VF 3's, and a can on mine thinking that it would help. It did make a noticeably difference but his sled was still faster than mine no matter who was riding them. We both had the same updates/reflashes. His was 100% bone stock. My M8 was just a DOG!!!

Anyone else seen/heard of anything like this??
