Is it worth goint to school to become a small engine mechainc?

Is it worth it to be a small engine mechanic you ask. It really depends on the day and who your working for. Generally the pay is not that great, and the work is long and in most case's very frusterating everyone wants everything done 3 days before they drop it off.

However, if your lucky enough to work for a good employer and in my case lucky enough to work on a lake then, it really can be a blast. I dont feel like I make bad money either.

So I guess it depends on how dedicated you are and what your looking to put into it, Its just made me want to ride way more and go boating or jet skiing more. Plus you get to drive/ ride some pretty bad *** stuff when your done working on it.

Hey if you like to turn wrenches, becoming a Turfgrass Equipment Technician may be up your alley. I don't know if you like golfing but you learn a lot more than just becoming a small engine mechanic, the pay is pretty good and you don't have to work on big heavy equipment, the job possibility's are endless and the demand is high. When i took the course it also gave me my 3rd year schooling for outdoor power equipment technician but its probably different down in the U.S.A. either way you can go to work just about anywhere in the World i think the last time i checked only 26% of the golf courses in the world had certified tech's, i did the job for a couple years and it was very rewarding went back to trucking though in the north here the seasons are short and i got a great job driving. I still miss the tech job and working at a golf course it was the best job i ever had i hope one day i will return but what i learned there was priceless and the job possibilities are not restricted to golf courses pretty much every City or town needs tech's as well. Check it out.

Said it once say it again, get along term degree. Regardless of what you do or what you want to do, NO ONE CAN TAKE IT FROM YOU. Besides the doors it will open longer term. You want to wrench then you can wrench, but now you have a better opportunity to be the boss, and own it. You want to swing a hammer, then guess what, you are that much closer to being the head contractor. What you think you want to do now and what you are better able to do will change, and don't be blocked by thinking of the quick money now. 2 years CC and if want then add the 4 yr.
H**l, friends I graduated college with are now,
1 with biology degree is navy EOD
ex roomate(biggest pothead) geology, now supervisor of enviromental cleanup
brother business degree, former financial planner, now pool man, owns company
me, chemical engineering, now chemist(hell I wanted to go to art school out of high school, now I draw if/when I want.

Not even close!

Go to your local college and get a 4 year degree . Like everyone else has stated . Get an MBA , or become a CPA , or an Fn Engineer! Do not spend money on learning to fix lawn mowers.

If you have a wealthy father become an MD or a DDS.:beer;
