looking at either buying a 01 summit 700 144 or a 01 summit X 800 155..which do you think would be a better U.P. sled\ditch banger

also does anyone know if there would be a big difference in fuel consumption.

which sled would you buy? for this riding style

the 800 is less money but the 7 is mint!

ps: not looking to set a highmark so keep that in mind

Depends on what has been done to both of them based on the motor. Has either of them had motor work or stock. I think I would go with the 800 just because you may not need that extra 100cc but you know sooner or later it will come in handy.:D

I ride in the U.P. of Michigan and run a 151" 975 RMK. Never had a problem with it in the trails. The studded 121s trail sleds are going to hook up a little better but your not going to notice that drastically. I would go with the 155 800 and never look back.

For running in the U.P. you don't need more than a 700, and a 155 is pretty long for the trail ride. That's what I have. My 136 was a million times better on the trail than my 155 is, although my EZ Ryde doesn't have tipped up rails.

And if the snow is set up, you can still trench a 155 in the U.P. but it really doesn't give you a big advantage for most of the boondocking up there. I have a 155 cause I like to go west, and I wish for those times I had more HP. But in the U.P. I have plenty of power and a little more track than I need. YMMV

back to your original ?question?. Ditch riding-not ideal, but Dooable.:o
A 155" will work, given you have plenty of snow for cooling & lubrication for the slides.
! 155" on a 01' ?, are sure it isn't a 151"/159" or even a 156".
Just asking because of the year, versus the driver pitch for that year.

I would go with the 800 155" just because it's bigger and has a longer track. also how deep of lugs are on the 155? and also when have they had a new motor put in because if they havnt i would say it proble about time for both
