Is 2009 M1000 worth it?

Looking to getback on a Cat. I can get a smokin deal on an 09' m1000, 162", but do they work well stock. I am seeing alot of bogging / fuel issues and frankly don't want to dump a bunch of extra dough just to make it preform. Do I go for it or search out an 09' m8?

My 09 has never bogged. Ran good right out of the box. Runs great now with a few mods but I have no complaints. A pipe kit, regear, and clutching changes and you'll have a killer arm stretcher.:beer;:D

I have an 09 M1000. I have not had mine bog under any circumstances including riding in snow over the hood conditions, right hand side hill, etc. My brothers, which is an 08 M1000, does bog in certain conditions. If you do get the 1000, make sure you put side and clutch vents on. This would apply to any M8 you would buy too.

Ditto here as well. No issues before I added some stuff, and no issues since.

In stock form it won't have the snap that makes it fun, but it's a tractor that just keeps cranking up the hill. It takes VERY little money to get that kind of snap & quite a bit more power on the 1000 as well. ($350-400 & a very small amount of non technical work)

Like the other guys said, venting is key on this sled. If you want belts to last, spend a few bucks on some venting.

Great! Not that I'm afraid to spend a few bucks or getting my hands dirty, I just figured on riding it stock this season, then loosing weight and doin some small mods next season. Sounds doable so far. Might go shopping this afternoon.

i ran it stock last year and then did a couple things this year just cause i wanted to. I absolutely love my 09 m1k sno pro. I did some side vents, a gauge cage by amp and a speedwerx tunnel dump can for the real deep days. Works awesome. No bogging.

As said above there is nothing wrong with the sled. I rode my stock for 700 miles last year and then put the full slp pipe on it. Only caution i'll give you is that the under hood temps do get a little out of control. I melted two oil caps and two of the electrical sending units on the oil bottle. Just throw some vents on there and it will be fine. The gauge cage makes a big difference. Oh and if you don't plan on going any further than the pipe, go with the PC III. I made the switch and so far have had no problems, completely plug and play!

If you leave it stock, don't ride another one with the SLP setup, you'll spend the $1000 :). The '09 is a good sled stock. The '09 with SLP setup is awesome and you still have stock reliability and ease. As stated in this post, lots of venting too.

Have fun!
