I have never heard of anyone having a track failure but I wonder how good it is to flex the track in the width direction?
I am wondering how hard it is on the track to flex the outer 4" over when sidehilling and such.
I plan to do the 2 wheel change on M1000. Just because I understand it helps a bit to keep the skid from filling up as much with snow.
Don't know for sure. Cheap to do and can go back if I want.
But again I wonder about the cross track supports (internal).

What 4" , Is there actually 4" from the rails to the outer edge of the track? Maybe so but didn`t seem that much to me, hhmm. will have to measure tomorrow. and I don`t beleive you would actually have a problem with track damage in that area, the new cats and polaris`s have no outer wheels on there new sleds in the mountain models that I have seen. but they do have some outer wheels on the rails farther forward, but I would take those off as soon as I had a chance.
I would only run the solid plastic wheels in the rear with only the 2 inside ones or good billet aluminum ones, I have seen pics of the spoked plastic ones fold over and break, like the Slydog wheels, they break.
Tip your sled on its side in your drive way or garage which ever you have and see how the track flex`s outside the rails you will probably be surprised how much it actually moves, with or without the outside rear wheels.
