is 2 wheel mod any good?

I am considering doing the 2 wheel mod to my M7 but was wondering if it makes much difference? Is sidehilling and carving easier? Do you loose any durability having one less wheel and less bearings on the axle? Please post your observations and opinions.

Did it to my M7 and to be honest the chassis is so nimble to start I couldn't really tell the difference unless the snow was rock hard, but then again I'm a big guy and it dont take much for me to throw the sled around. Another problem is if a bearing goes out in one of the wheels you have no backup. Dont get me wrong I love it, just sharing some observations. IMO you cant beat the look and if your creative you can do it with the axle and spacers on it and a little machine work. Didn't pay a dime to do mine.

More likely to break something if you jump compared to the 3 or 4 wheel setup. Ive seen 2 buddies hammer thier 2 wheel setups and had to limp the sleds home on two bent wheels with hollowed out bearings.

WOW that sucks, so I might have to carry one of the ones I took off as a spare!

Just put mine on tonight. For $20 why not?
But it certainly looks better, i havent even riden this sled yet so i couldnt tell u what the difference is with or without it.:beer;

did mine, now it rolls over all by itself;) also did mine myself, if your not mechanically inclined spend the $20-30 bucks... if you are its really pretty simple.

Anyone have a preference on which 2 wheel; kit to buy? Do larger wheels do anything other than add to the bling factor? I do not care to much about looks but I do care about performance.

bigger wheel rolls easier. I did notice today that on the new HCR there are four wheels on the inside. this made me think ....... why not on the M's???:rolleyes:

For the cost of a kit it is a must, it makes sidehilling and carving effortless!!! Buy it for sure you will be happy with it.:D:beer;

I made my own 2whl kit on my 97` Summit and it helped on laying the sled over on hardpack, Now I did notice that if a sled runs a 2 whl kit on a skid that has rail extensions it will be more effective if the hyfax`s go all the way back.

I had 136-151 extensions that did not run the hyfax`s back to the rear wheels and when the nose was in the air when climbing it was very unstable and felt like a unicycle so I reinstalled the outer wheels and it got rid of this problem, This year I have changed skids and am running a full length rail and will reinstall the 2whl Kit again but I`m going to run 3 whls in the center for more support.

This probably isn`t something that every one would experience but is what I have ran into.

Wheel size helps on the rolling resistance, and especailly effective if the rear wheels are the same diameter as the drivers or bigger, but to big and you loose track length.

Good Luck.

hi
i run the bdx 2 wheel kit and it is cheap 20.00 bucks for it also i notced it is alot easier to lay over and more nimble in the trees and it saves weight so i would recomend it
i have had it on my sled for 2 years now no bent wheels even after jumping

I have never heard of anyone having a track failure but I wonder how good it is to flex the track in the width direction?

I am wondering how hard it is on the track to flex the outer 4" over when sidehilling and such.

I plan to do the 2 wheel change on M1000. Just because I understand it helps a bit to keep the skid from filling up as much with snow.

Don't know for sure. Cheap to do and can go back if I want.

But again I wonder about the cross track supports (internal).

installed the two wheel kit on my 07 M1000 snopro last season and found it definitely helped with side hilling and makes it a lot easier to throw on its side. Very cheap switch for looks and to drop a few pounds- have not had any problems after one season
