Interesting video from 75 years ago

That's really cool!
If the manufacturers went back to that way of building cars they would make money and the consumer would be able to afford them.
Amazing how simple things were. The one guys job for 8 hours straight was putting 4 bolts in the frame. Now he has been replaced by a 5 million dollar robot that has to be replaced after a model change.
Another thing I noticed was the lack of safety equipment. So many safety regulations and laws and rules just drive up prices. Personal responsibility means nothing anymore!
Sad really!:face-icon-small-sad

I remember hearing a quote from Henry Ford stating that he priced his cars and paid his workers so that they could afford to buy the cars too. Something that we don't do anymore.

I think companies have found out that when people get hurt on the job, it is very expensive. It is much cheaper for the company to make sure their workers are safe, even if it takes a little bit longer.

Thats awesome!!! If the manufactures actually payed that much attention to detail they would have better products. Its pretty amazing to see the whole assembly line of car making from back then. now there is just machines doing it. witch actually puts lots of people out of work now.

Thanks for putting that up here for us to see!

Wow, thanks for sharing. I'm a quality manager today but in my past life was an industrial engineer, so I can geek out about this stuff. Actually pretty impressive automation for being in the 30s. With it being shot in the middle of the depression I would have to guess most of those assembly lines were implimented in the late 20s. Saftey and productivity have came a long way in the last 70 years.

Are you serious?
UAW laborers are way overcompensated for what they do.
That's a large part of our economic problem, our labor is too high, so we import more & more leaving nothing for our workforce to do.

There are people who who make 6 figures and earn every penny, & there are $10/hr people that are overpaid!

I guess I was thinking of other factory workers besides UAW laborers... you are right though, lots of people over compensated for what they do.

machines don't put people out of work, (BIG GOVERNMENT DOES) someone has to build them too, its a market that constantly changes and there is always a job. Just because you can't do the same job everyday for the rest of your life is a good thing. I would go crazy.
