Interesting read

Not making excuses but...according to Sen Murkowski, her vote was driven by securing the King Cove/Cold Bay road. I asked her and she told me this bill was her "best chance" to get the road deal done.

Maybe there was another way, maybe there wasn't.

Locking up public land is never good but we elect senators specifically to make these kind of projects happen.

I wonder if she will lock up Alaska riding area's if it came down to getting some other legislation passed. It is all about who is going to loose something and who is going to gain something. I suspect there will be some bill in the future that involves us and I wonder how she will vote then.

They can ban all they want, people will rebel and ride anyway. They cant catch everyone.

I'd hate to go to jail for something so petty, but I'll do it. In the interim, lets get on the phone and write some letters! Stand up for our rights!

I would not be a good politician. I remember a college course that used politics as an example of a job that is impossible to perform ethically. I couldn't vote for something to get what I want knowingly screwing someone else. Just not in my make up. I realize the road might be badly needed but on the flip side you just closed off 2 million acres of land access for thousands and thousands of people. Interesting..

Same reason people like you and me don't become LEO. Lisa Murkowski is a RINO, and has let her conservative constituents down time and time again (Holder nomination for example), so what do we do now?

I don't know, but its time to stop playing nice. I'm sick of writing letters to these people with not so much as a form letter reply. I'm sick of their apathy, I'm sick of our apathy. Its time to start demonstrating our strength. Join the NRA, join the BRC, open carry, carry a picket sign, put on a bumper sticker, do something!

She lied to you. That project was attached to one of the earlier wilderness bills she voted for at the begining of this mess. Keep on her! She is on thin ice as are the rest of the reps and sens are. The Murky name aint really all it used to be.

On a side note that King Cove isn't really necessary.

Actually it was in the bill. I did a little research and if you do a search for "Alaska" you will find the cove project. Being political jargon I am not exactly sure what the hell they are saying. I think it is just turning over the land..

I have to agree with Lisa acting like a moon bat and not one of us. She has voted more like a Liberal than a Conservative. I registered to vote as soon as I could here in the state and I can tell you, unless the other person is way way way out there, she probably won't get my vote..

What they need to do is to keep a bill specific to the idea.. Not include all this extra stuff which causes people to vote against what their constituents want. If this bill included language only regarding the land lockup I bet you any money it never would have passed.

Our government is really really f%^ked up!

Whoops my bad, i thought they passed that one earlier. Yup all of our reps are just bowing down and voting with the majority, except the one everyone can count on. Don Young. Anybody wish they didn't waste their vote on Begich Yet?

It seems to me that the more you promise certain groups that the government will take care of them the higher people move on the political totem pole. Obama is a perfect example of where we are headed and that is... socialism.

That is where we are headed. Its to bad more people in this country don't see that.

What is even worse is just how many are ok with that! More than ok, look at just much Omama won by, people actually seem to want it. Hopefully, people wake up and realize in the next 4 years, that this is the wrong road for our country.

x2

lies, lies, lies.

I edited the above because it was wrong, I should have thought a bit about what I was saying before I posted. I apologize.

My frustration is with people that want the government to pay for their lifestyle and the government that operates on emotion. I have great respect for people that choose to live off the land, and I value the heritage that can often only be found in very remote places such as Kings Cove.

Lazy and pathetic people exist in all cultures and in all locations, but the current administration has an inordinate desire to support the "have nots", they want to forcibly take from those that have, for those that "have not". This is wrong. We need to stop spending money, pull back, and focus on the our existing obligations.

There are always going to be people who are less fortunate than others, its up to the community, family, friends, church, to help those people, willingly. Not the government which is funded by taxing the people.

:D :D :D Just couldn't help myself.. When the president of the United States says and I quote:

"My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody. I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

This was in October of 08 BEFORE he was elected and he still made it to the White House.. See, all that money and time spent with ACORN paid off didn't it? Heck, they got billions in the stimulus package..

Your right we are sooooo screwed..
