Intake options for 09 plastics???

Okay, pretty much done with the 09 upgrade and the stock airbox does not fit well and I don't want to massage the fender to get it to fit. I'm in a pinch as far as time goes so I'm trying to fab up my own kit, does anyone see a problem with the direction I'm taking here? I'll have an open K&N type filter up on top of the clutch cover.

My concerns:
1. heat from the pipe, will fab up a heat shield.
2. Volume, enough air? 2" id pipe.

I've got rubber connectors connecting the pipe to the throttle bodies so it isn't a rigid connection.

Let's hear it.....

airflow into the engine wont be smooth but it might work OK, who knows how smooth the airflow is with the stock boost box, it's got tons of stuff in it interfering with airflow.

jsledder, i dont think that will perform well on your machine, good effort but...... the stock boost box is there to equalize air pressure entering both throttle bodies, air enters and fills the oem boost box and gives both throttle bodies the ability to each intake the same amount of air at a relatively equal presure. i think with your setup the pto throttle body will intake much more air than the mag side will!

i would retain the stock boost box if possible!

here's a setup i made for my 06 with 06 plastics, used the oem boost box and made an adapter, i dunno if this will fit your 09 plastics but i takes up considerably less space than the factory air box!

My stock boost box fit with 09 plastics just fine, just had to move the sensor around to the front side.

X2 on that

The boost box fits no problem, after moving the sensor. It's the actual air box that does not fit, plus I do not like the crap in my throttle bodies that makes it's way through the stock airbox.

I think I'm going to try your setup danduvall......
