installing 2 wheel kit 2008 m8. . . questions

I am thinking about installing the arctic cat 2 wheel kit on a 2008 m8. I was going to use the kit from arctic cat. Does anyone know if you have to remove this skid to do this, or can you just loosen the track tension and complete the job? Also, are there any special tools I will need for the job? Any help or tips are greatly appreciated.

I didn't even loosen the track, just lay the sled over, pull out the 2 upper skid bolts and swing the skid down to get slack, swap the parts and put the skid back, 15 minutes really

I just bought and installed the arctic cat kit on my m7 mod. You just loosen the track and replace the main shaft with the shorter one leaving out the two end wheels and the black spacers. Took 1/2 hour and looks good.
I'd post a pic but I can't paste. Can anyone tell me how to post a pic.

HEY just an FYI if you are purchasing a 2 wheel kit ours are $19.95. Instead of a sleeve and a shaft we use one solid piece the washers on the outside look good too.

Sounds like a good deal mike. I paid $49.95 plus tax can. for the cat one and I would rather have used a one piece shaft...next time.

I could have done it in 15 min but a had a beer and bonded with my sled. lol

I have the BDX kit and its great. Works good and well worth the money (very little money that is). Installing mine It took me about 45 min but I had several minutes of drinking and bonding with my sled...

I cut my axle and made my own last year b/c I was impatient and didn't want to wait for a BDX kit to arrive. I ordered the BDX Kit over the summer a switched them out. BDX works great.

Another plug for the BDX 2 wheel kit, install was easy, good price, and looks cool!:D

Not trying to hijack the thread, but can you use the stock wheels with the BDX kit or do you need to go to bilet wheels.

Thanks
Boone

great kit

Easy install and the stock wheels work great thank bdx for the quality axle and great looks :beer;

Hey Mike

Are you supposed to leave the stock washers on the bolts over the washers you supplied? Or remove and use only your washers?

Thanks

On my 08, all I did was cut the axle down just shy of 9 1/4", drilled and tapped one end, then used bigger washers on the rails. The axle is hollow all the way through so it makes drilling easy. The bolt is 3/8" course thread.

Nope, just the washers we sent!
