Injector oil problem

Hello,

I have a 08' D7 that I rode all last year, did all the summerizing last spring. I just noticed that there is a puddle of oil under the sled right at the exhaust? :confused: I opened up the hood, took the side cover off to look to see if the chain case was leaking (it's full and the cover was just rplaced at the end of last season), then I smelt the oil. It's injector oil? I filled up the injector oil to the top last spring when I summerized it and now it's about an inch down. Can someone please help explain why it did this? Is there a kink in a line some where that might have caused this?

Thanks!

Check the oil bottle itself I just finished up work on a older poo that the bottle leaked bad about 1 inch of oil per week

Replaced the bottle and grommet and no more leaking It seemed on that sled the hole in the bottom was oval a bit and wouldn't seal right

Thanks for the infomation. Mine has only leaked about an inch for the whole summer. I don't think it's the bottle but it's something to take a look at.

Top,
There is also a vent line that runs from the power valves down past the exhaust Y pipe and into the belly pan. I'd bet that the residual oil from the belly pan is dripping on the floor. I discovered this line when I was installing my Skinz bumper and found a puddle of oil in the belly pan. Someone (Ron maybe?) installed a catch bottle 2 years ago on this sight but I never heard if it worked out.

Do you think that maybe from the heat sitting in the garage all summer (contracting and expanding) is what caused the over flow of oil (pushing the oil out that tube)?

In 2008 many Polaris machines had a leak on the o-ring of the low oil sending unit that is placed in the oil container. Chances are you filled the oil to the top and it leaked around that o-ring until it was below the highest point sending unit and then it stoped. There is a service bulletin for this issue on my 2008. You may want to check with your dealer. Hope this helps.

Mine is only an inch down from the top so I don't think the o-ring at the bottom would be the problem. Thanks though..... ;)

The last time this happened to me, it was an oil line that came off the oil pump. I would add that your check list...:beer;

My sled is doing this too. And I did find out that my chain chase was leaking too, just wondering but why wud you put a plastic cover on? Cause mine warped.

Chain case covers have been discussed over and over...... Mine was replaced under warrenty with a new meterial chain case cover.
