Article in Yakima Paper a day or two ago said:

Was closed (illegal) to ride the last few miles to WJL from Monday morning till Friday Afternoon. Now, due to concerns by local businesses (WJL?), it is legal to ride from 3:00 pm Thursday and leave early Friday morning, then closed during the day Friday.

Rumor is snow was bladed down to 3 inches. Can expect those 3 inches might have melted off.

Let us know, I'm going overnight on a Thurs in 2 weeks.

I was up there on Saturday and was supprised when I pulled into the snowpark that there was trucks and equipment parked there, the berm was plowed down, the road was plowed to the point that you could see dirt and I watched a pickup drive up the road. There was a sign posted at the entrance that stated that they would be logging Monday- Thursday afternoon (3 pm I believe) Then just on Friday between certain hours that I don't recall.
They weren't supposed to be using the road on Saturday and Sunday to be closed to them, and open to snowmobiles. Well that wasn't the case. They were there and we could hear the saws running and they were using the road all day Saturday. I would have to guess that they had also agreed to not use the road on Thursday afternoon through Friday morning to accomodate the sled traffic for the Thursday night runs (but I'm just guessing on that).
The part that really pisses me off is that in just the past couple weeks the road finally got good coverage to give us access to what is not easy area toget to. Milk Cr., Gold Cr., and Rock Cr. are all closed for the next year due to the flood damage.
This whole deal that they can't log without snow on the ground (20" min.?) is bull ****! :face-icon-small-fro

At the grooming meeting Monday Night, Ian with the FS, confirmed that the road will be open Thursday Evening's to accomodate riding to Whistling Jacks, closed Friday Morning, and reopened Friday evening until Monday morning - I would not push the morning times (I think they said 5 am)?

I'm not familiar with the road in question....can someone tell me if this road is posted "closed to wheeled vehicles" and is a designated groomed snowmobile trail?

Yes it is posted as such. But they put up another small sign in addition to inform us of the logging operation. So I guess unless you are part of the logging crew it wouldn't be legal to drive up the road. If that's what you are asking.

SPRING CREEK ROAD, rode to jacks last night

Yes it's a groomed snomobile route, yes this logging has been on the agenda for a couple years, they finanaly decided to do it, We went over last night, opens at 3 to sleds on thursdays and weekends, snow it thin but more than enough to get there, the plowed road has plenty of snow on it and it''s barley a mile or 2 at most, had a great ride, Roger did a great job with the grooming on that side, he's got a great trail made up and over the mud slide, (good job roger ) Even "pork chop" hill was in great shape, (ice hill). no problem at all getting there, WJL needs the business, go and have fun. The spring creek road it the road acroos from jacks that goes up the hill, basicaly the main route in to jacks

Yes Whistlin' Jacks Lodge is going to need lots more business to make up for those who will travel 5 or so miles east to Gold Creek Station. Ron and Vicki (owners) have just built a beautiful bar/lounge that is absolutely gorgeous and twice the size of WJ's lounge and i feel will give WJ's a run for thier money. If you all have a chance, stop on by however you cannot get there via Gold Creek Road FSR 1703 as it is washed out.
