inexpensive hid lights

so I have been eyeballing these 4" HID lights at my local auto store. they are about $100.00. has anyone tried these yet? Iam thinking it might be the ticket for my mesh hood days. anyone tried em' or any other low budget hid lights compared to say.........PIAA?

thanks.

i'm in deep,i got a set of $54 grote lights on my $35k apex, like the guy in B.C who built it said "why crash with a $350 set of lights when you can with a $54 set, grote lights and fiber glass repair kits, hand in hand.

I just put a set of those $100 ea hid's on my father in law's truck for a xmas present. They are incredible!!! I have the big lightforce's on my truck and now will be adding a set of those cheap hid's. They are selling a ton of those around here and now I SEE why! The 7's of course would be too big for a sled, but the 4" would be interesting to try. :beer;

how do they work? got linky? my thought is good lights might save me a crash
Great for night riding but i do run with 2,turbo monster runs 1 piaa with the same amount of lighting,i have not had night problems riding(shut up monster)because of lights, more so to do with the goggles one wears, went to 509's @ night and day and no problem

I can see my wheeler growing a set of those as well. They woudl be the ticket for sure during hunting season here. The stock lights on the polaris wheelers are junk and these would be insane on a wheeler. Like you said, the 35 watt draw is very appealing too.

that is what I am hoping to hear....only 35 watts. sounds perfect for a sled
www.grote.com but what would a 4" light look like on a sled,if you don't care about the look, then go with a chrome or rubber housing light from any manufacture for $15,even in Canada you can find that, not being mean here man,Jetco,Grote,Trucklite, but check out some of the new LED lights which use a heck of a lot less watts and not as fussy with grounding, and i think would work much better on a sled,it's not like you got a 100 amp alternater,go to a large truck shop instead of a auto shop, wre you from?

Your link did not take me to a product, just the home page. But yes, the ones I am taling were bought at a Schucks store/kroger/ whatever. the 7's are 119 on sale for 99 and the 4's 109 on sale for 89... The lightforces reach out alittle farther, not much. But the hid's cover far more area side to side and it is literally light daylight inside their beam. It is amazing the color and the brightness of them. I think they would be awesome on a sled with a steering post mount setup. I don't think you will regret them.

LOL, I don't think you will regret it. I run the oval piaa's for helmet lights and they are candles incomparison.

there was a guy from sweden on HCS that put some on his M , he has side by side illumination photos also , thread was about 6 weeks old i think.
anyhow he needed some sort of rectifier or voltage thingamhouey to make it work.
looked stock when done but functioned better ,, clearer white light

Hey guys,I just resently bought a Lead Dog helmet light and they are 35watts,I think they work pretty good.I don't see why they couldn't be mounted solid if needed,I think they are very universal for fuction and mounting, and $70 or $80 isn't to bad of a price either.

Excellent thread...

Anyone try any of these? Cyclops HID machine mounted lights..

I have the cyclops light, and just upgraded to the solstice. Thinking about adding a couple of lights for when I remove the headlight/ hood assembly on my nytro..

Maybe I can get off-road-rider to comment...
