IndyDan EricW SW'ers engine contest

Yes people, It has taken longer than expected, but it happened. The EricW/IndyDan/SW contributors made this little dream of ours come true! Yesterday the sled hit the snow, and caused a hitch in the earths rotation after launch! J/K, but the'ol Gen2 that you people built for my son, is hard to hang on to when squeezing the trigger. I would list all the people involved, but then it would be a long read. You know who you are, and more important, my son and I do. I can't thank all of you enough. Time was of the essence as I have til the 23rd to iron out a few wrinkles and enter the Lewistown snow drags, then I fly to Denver on the 24th for surgery that "might" (but doubtful) bring the season to an end. I have been working out by riding :) to speed up recovery that will happen. Physically, mentally, but more important than anything, I am emotionally ready for the "stutter bumps" that are sure to follow. Thanks Snowest for making this happen!! :)

You sandbagger I thought the engine was an 800? What's with the 7 on the hood?

Looks dang good and glad to hear it's running. Good luck with surgery and the drags1

sandbagger :)

Yea, you got me there on the "700" decals. I will pull the "7" and just run a couple zeros. :) Upon lifting the hood or trying to watch me yank the rope, you will know instantly, an 800 lurks under that beat up old hood.:face-icon-small-coo. If all of SW'ers had contributed to a 600, I would still feel the same way. Again, many thanks to all.

Ty (goingverticle):

It is you that are an example for the rest of us to follow. I feel real fortunate to have had a front row seat to watch you and be inspired by your determination to not let anything get in the way of completing this project. For those of you that haven't followed this story, Ty has worked past several complications and huge challenges (no the least of which is doing this project from a wheel chair) to make sure that the sled that he originally built for his son would breath again.

As Ty's son went off to college Ty was faced with some tough financial decisions in order to support his sons efforts and education. Ty had to make the tough call to sell the engine out of his sons sled to make ends meet. Having gotten to know Ty, I know that this sled being just a chassis left a huge blank in his heart that couldn't be filled even with the knowledge of knowing he did what he had to do.

Enter IndyDan. Dan ran a contest with him donating an IndyDan 800 to create a father son/duaghter build for potential contest entrees in the name of creating a bonding experience for the winners and a ton of power for the lucky kid. Ty told his story but had some hesitation and even questioned that his story might not be appropriate due to the age of his son. After reading his story, I contacted IndyDan and asked if there was something we could do on the side to get Ty going on his mission.

The results were a top notch 800 from Dan & I and a lot of parts and support from a bunch of SW members/dealers. Ty has worked through physical limitations, pain, and a wife who probably tryed to use common sense on him more than once. Ty has used local high school kids and friends to help set the motor and move things around. As he kept me up on each progress and set back I could see that nothing short of death was going to keep this sled/motor combination from breathing.

Congrats to you Ty for never saying uncle on this project or in life. Those of us who have been lucky enough to know you and follow your successes are much richer for it. I hope the sled runs great, and your surgery goes ever better. Your son must feel great each time he says "Thats my Dad".

Stuff like this makes up for all of the b*tching that goes on here. Nice to see somebody helping out someone else who could use some help.
