Out yesterday for a good ride. 09 dragon 800 163. SLP single, blue pink with stock weights, carls helix set on the 60-42 with stock spring.

we ride in on the trail, take a good pull at approx 4000 feet and it will pull 8150, do a couple long pulls and it will then hit 8350 -8400 and feel like it is going to pull your arms out.

ride a ways on the trail to another bowl and does the dame thing till it has had a hard pull.

I notice also that it idles better once it has been run hard as well (1750). It hs at times when trail ridden idels down to 1250.

Is it just loading up or what do you think it may be? I had as AKSnowrider has the MTX weights in with the 2 gram in tip, 1 in center and did the same.

ideas, thoughts?

blown motor to fallow soon

Sounds really similar to how my 09 d8. Had top end rebuilt then less than 100 mi. later the motor went again. my advice sell the snowmobile ASAP and go with another brand. polaris has been no help so far. we will see what the final result is this time. But i do know i didnt get to ride much at all this year. 2nd season on sled under 1100 mi.

Yup do a compression check and pull you exhaust valves and look to see if your pistons are scored, my sled had the same issues and and not long after the pto side piston went. low rpm and low idle are a sign of lack of compression.

Indeed it could i never even gave that a thought, Just as soon as i here a low idle issue with low rpm i assume that the motors on its way out or is loosing compresion.

Now why would you think that? Have you heard of issues with these?:face-icon-small-sho

BTW how is your sled situation coming along?

plugs = perfect coloring, compression = 5 pulls 110lbs, exhaust valves = clean, no build up slides perfect, pistons = perfect no scoring cannot see an issues when looking in exhaust valve holes.

how do you maintain a hot pipe? slp single on it. Wrap it? The sled does not have any after market venting, took foam out of hood that is it.

I either lean it down slightly or clutch it a little heavier. Usually clutching for me.
Then again if your happy with everything else you just live with a weaker first shot.
