If you are going to spend money, stay away from the fox floats. IMO.

Either the ohlins or float with piggybacks.

GTYR are a pretty good shock for the money.

Ohlins are top notch. Ride is amazing. Have them on my Nytro.

Have not tired the Fox with piggy backs.

As long as you get the float 2 shocks they are great of course the Evo shocks are way more adjustable but 2 times the price.

By the way for 300 bucks you can upgrade any float shock to the float 2 ---that will fix all the old float issues that most guys talk about.

cheers........

If you got the coin and want the best, Ohlins !!!

Beem there, done that, tried them all. Ohlin's kick arse !!

Darko, you said that you have tried them all. How do the GYTR's rank? Do you think these are an option for those that want to sacrafice some performance but save a few hundred bucks?

I have posted this before, but Ski-Doo Rev 440 shocks fit perfect aside from needing to be shortened to 17.5" which is easy for any shock guy to do. They're way better than GYTR's and about the same price used. You can get them for $500-650 and then about $150-$180 to have both shortened/rebuilt. IMO, it's by far the best bang for the buck.

shock fix

the problem with the shock is not the shock the problem is with the spring , the spring is not calibrated for the weight of the front end , especially if you take off the sway bar. i have built spring spacers for the front end, r&d right now, sets the preload by at least 20,lbs and still remains flexible for off canter hills, way cheaper fix.

Yup, forsure. Nothing wrong with them at all. And to be honest if I didnt try the Ohlins i would have thought the GYTR's were the shiznit. For the coin there an awesome shock, took me a day to set them up mint and they worked awesome. They have a ton of adjustment, I put spring, rebound and compression all maxed out and adjusted backwards, I hate soft saggy bottoming shocks, I do pound the bumps pretty hard tho, anywho I found them easy to set up to the way i like them. After 1000 km's on them they didnt sack out or soften up etc. The GYTR's will also be alot cheaper to rebuild, and like you mentioned you'll save some coin off the start. I know Ohlins are built like no other, and perform awesome, but you pay a premium for that.

Have a look on totally Yamaha, I bought GYTR's last year brand new take off's for $400 bucks.

Cheers:beer;

There is no doubt the Ohlins are a awesome shocks.

I believe Yamaha has bought out Ohlins and the gytr shocks are a shock build for Yamaha by Ohlins that is the story I got from our Yamaha dealer.

Part #of Ohlins

Hey Darko, I tried to order a set of Ohlins and they tell me this KRAP! We checked with Ohlins Sweden.

They replied"

The XTX and RTX damper (YA 862) is 20mm longer since the XTX and RTX is wider in the front than MTX.
We do not have any front dampers for the MTX.

Can you tell me which shock# you have and if there was any mods to make them fit? Thanks for any info you can provide!!!! :D
