We all make mistakes, we just need to learn from them. Too many death's this year. Please be careful everyone. Remember to buckle you helmet too!
Doc

Hi Doc, I need to say that I think a lot of us are a lot smarter as time passes. The overall feeling for us on the hill is a safer one now. There is no saying that someone won't make a mistake here and there but the days of 'stupid' are over for a lot of us, thank God. We were lucky, now we want to be good... and lucky. ;)

Hope to see you at BIS.I promise to not run you down... again. :)

Why would anyone that rides with thunderstuck crew not have an avy pack knowing what kind of stuff they get into. as said above not worth your life, I dont ride in stuff thats that crazy but I'll be getting a pack as soon as I get a job.

Good post,we've all got reasons to arrive home safe and alive:).

When I fire up the sled in the lot the beacon also goes on,as well as my friends.Even if we don't plan on hill climbing we always wear them.I own them so why not always wear them.

If this video doesn't make you think than......

Trennis was still riding as far as I know. I ran into him in 2002 or 2003 at Copper Creek. He had upgraded to a D&D 1220 triple on his ThunderCat sometime after that Avy.

good for him to get back in the saddle so soon:beer;

we rode along for Thundertruck 4 at revy and it sounded like he was just comming back to the climbing world. we helped Trennis pull the last 30' of a chute in the bullpen (with a rope!!)

I just watched that vid today. I have it on vhs along with a whole bunch of old sled vids. Being from where the only thing you can get to slide is a sandpit wall now and then it makes you realize the real dangers that are out there. I remember when the film first came out there was a lot of crap thrown around that it should not have even been put on the film at all. Now several years later and a much greater respect learned from this kind of stuff it seems to make a lot more sense that it was put there in the first place. I said then and I say now thanks Jim for sharing one that had a good outcome so that many can see the dangers out there and not suffer the worst.

That is Exctly when he climb'd back in the saddle. That Campout chute day looked like Good Times cobby!:D:beer;

the ol' boy is also on a M1000Turbo this year with the HP3 as a backup.

that day will live in my memory for all time!!! thanks to Jim and all of the Thunderstruck boys for letting us tag along, it was an epic day!! :beer;

and kudos to Trennis for getting back in the saddle, I know a lot of people that wouldn't have after a life altering event like that. just goes to show us how passionate some of us are about snowmobiling!!:beer;

I must say all of us at Team Thunderstruck and many friends and fans have learned much since this fateful day in 2001 (8 years ago!!). It was long before avy bags (which most TS riders wear now) and even though we were aware of avys, we didn't know much about them and rarely thought about them. This event changed all that a billion times over! Since then the Thunderstruck guys and gals have learned so much and practice what we preach every day we are in the hills. We work closely with many different avalanche organizations and have sent avalanche safety messages out via television to literally millions of people worldwide. Trennis' story has been on Oprah, Dateline, Montel Williams and many more television shows, sometimes as a "survivor" story and sometimes, as with National Goegraphic Channel and Discovery Channel, as an incredibly detailed learning experience. Thanks for watching.

JIM
