If snowmobiling was banned what would you do?

I am curious if it were banned who would say the hell with that and still ride, or who would not ride and fight to re-open sledding, or just remember the days of sledding? or whatever? You know my answer, I will be riding!

I'd do the same thing I did when they banned dirt bikes behind my cabin at Lake Cle Elum, WA. Keep riding and make sure I go on a weekday. When they banned dirt bikes, there were deputies out on the weekend to take enforcement action.

They were never there on weekdays and after people quit riding, they are no longer out there at all. I can ride from the door of both my house and cabin, so there is no issue of LE waiting for me to return to the snowpark. Of course, sleds leave tracks, so that makes it easier to find us than it does a dirt bike sneaking into a closed area......In the past, I've been known to take a tree branch and cover my tracks when going into my own private trails that I didn't want the general public to know about!!!

I would get a yamaha, put the largest turbo I could find for it.
Add all the goodies I could afford.
Then ride anyway.
Let em try and catch me.

I do think we are headed to the point of civil disobedience.
When you are left with no choice, you do it anyway.

Locally, it would be no problem.
I know the area....very well, and even at 43, I could give any young buck a good run here in my back yard.

It would be a different story in the mountains.
A local officer would know the area so much better than I that running would likely be futile.:(

So the question becomes....How much is the fine?:D

I've been ignoring "no skateboarding" signs since I was little. Ignoring "no snowmobiling" wouldnt be tough. The only problem is the truck and trailor. Parking would be what would get you caught. Long live the outlaw!

Ok lets push this further, if sledding were banned would you ride in areas the are currently banned, i.e. wilderness and x-country ski areas? would it make a difference?

I am suprised to see so few riding. The areas would be wide open

There is no way in he11 you can stop me from riding. I'll fight for that right and break the law if I have to. I'll be droppin a few more cornices than usual to rid those who choose to track me down.:D
As for riding in banned areas. Sure, you're already breaking the rules at that point.

In all honesty if sledding was banned everywhere it would probably open up a lot of new area that I stay out of now

I wonder if or realistically when they ban backcountry riding that if we start riding the wilderness areas and other areas they currently want us out of that if they might say OK sorry here's a few areas you can ride in just stay out of the Wilderness areas.

I think Smokinjay is right about the truck and trailer part, that would be the easiest way to nab us.
I guess we'll have to draw straws and have someone drive the rig around to another lot to pick everyone up at.
If they don't ban trail riding we might have a chance not getting thrown in jail but if they actually BAN SNOWMOBILES then my friends we are SOL cause they could nab us before we even put a track to the ground.

I'm CURRENTLY fighting so you bet your arse I'll be fighting if they ban us out completly.
Wish more people were currently fighting before we actually are banned.

We would just draw straws.
Short straw drives the truck and trailer.
When you no longer care about trying to remain legal, who cares where the lots are. Just pic a spot on the side of a road and pick em up.
I can load 3-4 sleds and be gone in 15 minutes.
Prove we went riding and we are not just moving them from point "A" to point "B".
We threw some snow on for effect.

I just sit in the snopark and try to look cool anyway......I could probably still get by with that. :beer;

Probably become a serial killer who targets greenies and politicians ...

I already ignore a lot of the stupid laws! That would be just one more! this is kinda like the gun issue they will have to pry my bars from my cold dead hands and hope like hell they dont get shot in the process! As far as I am concerned the only area that is closed is private property! sleds do very little if any damage so to hell with the law! If they want to put me in jail for exersizing my rights so be it !
