idling at 2150

when you start the sled it idles fine at 1600rpm then you let it warm up and rev it a few times the idle goes up to 2150. then you turn if off it repeats the process. i have a fbf throttle cable and recently replaced the stator and it ran fine when i took it out last weekend until it started to back fire on the way down. then replaced the plugs and it ran fine then it started all over again. any suggestions??

Look for vacuum leaks. With the sled idling take a can of carb cleaner and spray the outside of the intake boots and any vacuum lines. Also spray the end of the crank. If the sled starts to die then you have located your leak.

does the sled idle down to 1600 after a short while 1 min or so? I just bought my second 900 and this is what it does. I have lots of parts so i am going to start changing things . I am going to change the t- bodies and TPS first .I have a known good set from my 06 that snapped the crank . Vacum leaks where another thought but i think that would be hapening all the time not just when its warm, but its still a possibility . my other thought was a reed problem but that also is not likley to come with simlpy warming the engine .

Mine has done this from time to time.... seems if I have the idle set at 1700 it will hang momentarily at around 2000 sometimes. If I back the idle down so it runs at 1500 it wont do it at all. Not wanting to stray from TPS setting procedures I just ignore it. I too have looked for air leaks and found none.

I would say that the tps setting on my 06 are at the other end of the range as it always idled at 1450-1500 where the 05 idles at 1650 .Im going to check both tonight and see what I find i have a 3rd set of t-bodies and a new TPS if all else fails .

The cable adjutment is a good idea too!It could be that is just a tad bit to tight and is right on the edge and takes a minute to settle back to the base position.

I wil post up with my findings /results tonight

I know with my sled at least, it is not throttle cable problems. Lever freeplay is perfect regardless of bar position. I have double checked this several times.
Plugs look perfect, no air leaks to be found, engine runs flawlessly otherwise, I have decided to live with it for now.
