Idle?

I am wondering what the idle is suppose to be on these 900's I've searched but have not found any valid information. Right now my sled is idling at 1950-2000 is this ok?

Thanks

That's a bit high, but sometimes they do that when cold or after a long, hard pull... it should slow to somewhere between 1350-1700 or so depending on the TPS setting and other variables after a few moments. If it doesn't then you may need to have your TPS recalibrated or you should check for any possible air leaks around the throttle body boots or the crank seals.

Did you just purchase your 900?

I bought it back in June. And I just got the clutches back on it. And I don't remember it idleing that high. I did the FNI airbox, clutch kit,slp can,slp torque arm,bal primary bal and slp hot air elmination clutch side.
I notice when I put it on my stand and run it real quick and let off it drops to like 1650 than creeps back to 1950-2000. What's considered operating temps on these sleds? I'm going to start it up after work today and see if it drops down after it is up to op temp.

170 is about what I saw consistently a little higher in low snow long run at 185/190
somewhat high but scratchers would drop it instantly.
1500 is what I set TPS and idle screws for otherwise belt would start to drag / squeel

125-150 is normal temp, above 175 is HOT and over 200*F is Dangerous for the motor as things start to melt in the engine bay and internally. If you see anything over 200*F shut down the engine immediately and allow it to cool.

well I let it warm up to 130 and it settle to about 1850-1900 and would sometimes spike to 1950-2000 I'm not to worried about it hopfully when its cooler outside and not 45-50 degrees out it will settle down more.
Also
I checked for leaks and there wasnt any present.

If its slowly creeping up you might have a slight lean leak. I would check your boots and seals.and make sure your throttle cable isn't holding it open slightly.

A visual inspection might not be good enough. Spray some carb cleaner around the throttle body boots, cylinder base gasket seals, and the crank seal... if the engine sputters or dies then you know you have an air leak.

When I purchased mine after it was rebuilt it wouldn't idle below 1700+ RPM in town... after I rode it in the mountains it would behave in the way I described in my earlier post... idle control can be a bit spotty from time to time... I suggest you do the carb cleaner leak test and if it passes, then just continue to monitor until you get a chance to ride it in normal sledding conditions.

Well I sprayed the throttle body boots crank seal and cylinder base gaskets and they all checked out fine. It must be the tps sensor that's off ill have to figure that out next. All I know is I can't wait to ride this beast!!

Don't think anyone has mentioned this but it you are running the sled at your house and the elevation is much lower than where you ride the idle will be high. If you adjust it to be right at the house it will probably be way to low on the mountain.

Just went out and checked mine and it is also running up around 1900-2000. TPS is set dead on but will it need to be readjusted if I would adjust the idle screw?
