Idaho no longer reciprocates stickers!!!

let me say this the trails in ut and idaho are pretty bad and the way government works paying more taxes doesn't usually change anything . so all this ill pay more for better trail grooming falls flat .
87% of the Idaho registration fee goes back to the grooming district that you designate on the registration form.

Sorry for the double post. I'm blaming tapatalk.

My stickers are due this year in MN, I think its $115.00 for a (3) three year sticker (new price increase this year).

Like burnzie said $115 in MN and the state takes a lot of that money and paves over the snowmobile trail with asphalt then says you can't ride a snowmobile with studs down that trail anymore. Very little grooming goes on lately with our less than mediocre winters lately. I still have my trail sled but have since converted over to mountain riding and have bought 2 summits. The drive kinda sucks but the snow is worth the travel! I would gladly pay out of state sticker fees to actually see the money being used on the sport. Last year I was in West Yellowstone and they groomed the trails nightly, very nice trail system there!

Basically, if you play - you pay. By the way, what are the cost of snowmobile tags in New Hampshire, Minnesota, Vermont, Massachusetts, or any other eastern states? Just curious.

Vermont is $140 for RESIDENTS, $170 for non-residents. '17/'18 season only.

I'm happy to pay $30 a state for the whole season.

There is a bill being introduced in the Idaho legislature this session that, will require all users to buy a registration. So for the 2018-19 season, it is likely that, fat tired bikes, mushers, xcountry skiers, snowshoers, any tracked vehicle, that use groomed trails, will be required to buy a registration.

The problem with this scenario is, the fat tired bikes, xcountry skiers etc... will want to have input on how, when and where the groomer will be ran! These groomers in Idaho are purchased by Idaho state parks and rec, and then managed by individual countys. Currently we, snowmobile & snowbikers, have all the input on the groomers management. I do not believe we as a sport want to relinquish ANY chairs on our committee to non motorized sports. I will be glad to share the trail, and have even offered rides up the mountain to xcountry skiers. But lets not give up any authoritative positions on this!

The new rule/law states that the majority of the members of a grooming committee has to be snowmobilers. This will let other users have some input but not necessarily the final say on things. There definitely is verbiage in the ruling that pertains to this.

Any one have links to the proposed legislation?

I know a guy that has 5 groomer stickers on his fat bike. he has been buying stickers for 5 years now. that bastard, how dare he, support the groomed trails.

I just wish there was enough snow to start grooming in north Idaho.

I believe this is UNTRUE. Better check before you do frequent border crossing.
.

Show me.

I've spoken to Federal officers up there and I know the Fish and Game Sargent that patrols it. (And he is a snowmobiler)
Believe me, I've spoken to them.

As I'm sure you know, the groomer is from Montana and it grooms both sides of the state line.
It is only funded by Montana dollars.

When Montana or Idaho sledders go to the top of Lolo Pass their respective state sticker is fine if they stay on the groomed trails, regardless of the state line.
If either go off groomed tails, they must have the non-resident sticker for the state they are visiting.

I believe Scott to be correct for the reasons stated. This is how I've always understood it too. If this is not correct when did they change it?

Scott, I've been doing well. Staying busy both on weekend projects and at work. Glad to see more snow in our forecast!

Tim, Just guessing ...... will it be six groomer decals this year for you?

Also I know I'm not alone when it comes to buying out of state Idaho decals as I've been doing it for many years and will continue to.
