Iceage + Mt Tamer install ?'s

The rear arm mounting hole height on your rail is fine. Forward hole is for stock suspension, rear hole is for Mtn. Tamer. To secure the hifax in place you need to drill and tap a hole, be sure your on the center line when you drill. Timbersled rails use an Arctic Cat axle assembly with Arctic Cat track adjusters and come complete with rail end caps, jounce bumpers, and hifax. The rails that you have from Ice Age will probly use Yamaha adjusters and an Arctic Cat axle assembly. Ice Age has produced a few variations and you will have to figure out what you have. I hope this helps. If you have more questions please call. Thank You, Budd

Ahhh I see now. I wish I would have got the other rails now. Wildchilds axle is great & uses parts off the stock rail & AC 8" wheels. The adjuster brackets seem to be welded to the stock rails I ground off the rivet heads but they wont budge. May have to flip for new adjusters from Yamaha & bolt them on the new rails.

Heres the "Cat Rails" with a AC adjuster, note the larger slot and more beef in front of the slot to allow mounting the adjuster.

Heres the "Yamaha Rails" with Yamaha adjuster, no room for an adjuster on the front side.

???

Hi Guys,

Here are some pics of my 162 Ice Age rails built for the Mountain Tamer. Hope they help, 400 miles on it and no problems. I did not have to cut or shave anything. My inside wheel kit uses an Artic Cat setup and fits perfect, I believe they come that way for evey rail order. The Cat track tension set up is much easier to deal with on the trail if needs be. You do not use the bracket that came with it that is for the stock Nytro rails only. Ice Age built everything to fit the kit. Any questions fire away.

Your limiter strap is snapped how can you say there is not a problem? (dont mean to sound like a d!ck)
With your skid on a flat surface and your limiter strap in place with a new hyfax it should be no higher then 12" 1/4 and no shorter then 12" (top of the front arm) So i was told by bud @ timbersled.

theres three versions of ice age rails for the timber sled. the first one is cut to hold both stock and timbersled skids, available with stock adjuster set up or to use the a/c set up. the pic above is a timbersled only rail, the timber only rails come loaded with bumpers and end caps also. most are all cut to a 8 inch wheel. rotax i have a two wheel axle thats made for the yamaha adjusters.since im running the a/c set up its for sale.

lol, your not a d!ck. I am a big dude, I run 1 inch shims on my rear assembly and my limiter strap was very tight (not much room for flex or movement, and not a Timbersled design problem). My last ride was June 27th in Revy and I was trying a different set up to see what I liked best. I just tightened everything up to tight and the limiter gave way. The snow only had about 6 inches of soft on top and was very hard below, when it hooked up it put a lot of pressure on the limiter and having a guy my size flexing that rear skid it just could not handle the stress. I will be running 2 straps this year and I will lossen things up a bit seeing as I weigh 40 lbs less this year.:D: Hope she can handle the extra 90 hp this year.:beer;

You can not go for long with the strap disconnected or you will bend parts. Budd

Hey Budd,

It happened on the ride back to the truck fortunately, about a mile. I took it very easy after it snapped. I may need to send you my rear assembly to have it reinforced though for a guy my size.

Amen to there are too many variation of the IceAge Timbersled rails. I can't even keep track:)

That should be done now. Basically just 3 different variations available:

Strictly Timbersled set up for 8 inch wheels with a Cat style adjuster

And 2 versions of the rails that will run either stock or timbersled suspension. The only difference being using the Stock Yamaha axle or a cat Style axle.

The issue of the holes being just a tad too close to the web of the rails has also been addressed.

Don't Hesitate to call with any questions

Thanks

So, are all of them made to fit the Polaris hifax? wanting to order some hiperfax for them, and dont want to order wrong thing...

barb at IceAge said she was pretty sure, but want to MAKE sure!!!

well, I am ordering the hiperfax...they are the teflon insert ones...and the Polaris ones are a little taller profile...

Polaris hyfax are very loose but do work so far.

Motleyone, I also snapped my strap and changed to a dual strap system. Seems to work fine on the hard pack. Didnt have any issues. I cant wait to see your improvements run with you being 40lbs lighter, dude, that thing will be sick!

Yah she is gonna rip hard, by my boost calculations at 18 lbs she will make 306 hp. I ordered another strap as well but 2 straps, I agree, is the way to go. It's gonna be a fun year.:beer;
