ice scratchers

well for the rail mounted it does help alot with cooling and lubing the hi faxes and will get snow to you exchanger. I don't have hyper faxes on one sled and i have been noticing a lot longer hi fax life. and i haven't had the temp light come on going down the trail. I tried it when i first put them on.

the cons about the rail mounts is i've seen alot of guys forget to put them up. and it made some cool designs with them after they were playing around and rolled backwards on a climb.

as for the ski mounted ones i've never ran em, but mostly everyone i've seen with them and talked to they loved them. if i screw up mine i will be trying the ski mounted ones next.

I run rail mounted and i love them. I usually just keep them down all day unless i know i will be off the trail the entire day. I've drove over rocks and trees off trail with them down and nothing happened. The only time they got bent is when they were down and my buddies tried playing a joke on me and pulled my sled back on hard packed snow when it was in front of the cabin. The only con i can think of is they are kind of a pain in the butt to keep putting up and down.

I use the skid rail mounted ones on my '05 RMK 900 and they definately reduce the heat of the cooling system under the sled. :)

If your sled has reverse though, make sure you secure them on the rail PRIOR to backing up. I forgot once and tweaked one scratcher pretty good. :(

I don't use the ski mounted ones.

We carry the ski scratchers

We actually sell the ski scratchers - give us a call - 208-587-8584.

the new calble type scratchers work well with no worries about backing up or sliding backward-If you are interested I can help

Do you know if member Eric W is selling the two spring ski mount ones that he was working on.They looked real good. how do i find him?

I use rail mount scratchers from mpi, as others said, just have to remember to pick them up before backing up, no biggie.

Tried the ski scratchers on my last sled and they didn't work, no snow getting in the sliderails at all. Would never use them again.

My Dad has the cfr scratchers that have a pivot that allows forward or reverse without lifting the scratcher, sweet !!!

One guy I ride with just got the Slidekick(sp) cable type scratchers and they seemed to throw as much if not more snow than the original HOLZ style. Just don't like the way they leave a cable loop outside the track to catch on something when in stored position, otherwise I really liked them.

I bought of ice scratchers for the rails because where I ride to there isn't enough snow to cool my RMK 99% of the time, I didn't know that before I bought it. It would run that hot that I would have to throw snow on the running board coolers and heat exchanger basically every mile, making the machine useless to me... but since I've mounted the ice scratchers on the rails I can ride all day without worrying about my coolant temperature. It sprays snow up at the heat exchanger and a lot of snow on the slides too.

My OTT rail mounted scratchers work perfectly. When my temp warning light starts blinking I drop em down and within 200ft the light is out.

I run ski mounted

Ran rail mounted ones for two yrs. replaced Hifax 4 times in under 1000miles
moved them to the ski's and have 500 miles on this set. ski mounted seems to work better for me.

Glad you are happy with your purchase! Still have lots in stock with red or black anodized inserts.

Rail Scratchers

I run rail mounted scratchers and woudn't run anything else. Like others are saying, they work and I consistantly see 20 to 25 Deg F water temp reductions with them down. And for $80 to $90 dollars they are an incredible value when you consider the consequences......overheating, squeked motors, worn hyfaxes, and simply the reduced downtime when your waiting for your sled to cool. I haven't tried the ski mounted ones so no comment there.

Not trying to be a jerk but don't wait until your light is on. You were probably just trying to make a point. They do work great.

Im still working on getting things just right. I am really scared to put out a product that won't perform up to expectation. I have been running
my own prototypes for over a year now, but my first run of mass production didn't work out so well. There are so many types of skis that it is a real challenge to make things work well for each style.

As soon as I get them dialed I will be posting. Thanks for remembering. EW
