I wonder if they'll make a 156" Powderclaw?

After considerable input from many places last winter, I went ahead and bought a 2009 M8 Sno Pro with a 153" track. The people I spoke with said that the 153" was so much fun that I shouldn't even consider getting the 162".

Well, I went ahead and bought the 153" and on three days I remember specifically last winter, I was so close to sinking out of sight in the deep, deep powder that it was incredible. If it wasn't for the Powerclaw I would have been a goner. I remember on those days thinking, dang, I knew I should have got the 162" track!

I have read where several people have put the 156" Camo Extreme tracks on their 153" M sleds with no other modifications. I understand they fit inside the tunnel, the adjuster is near the end of its travel but it works just fine. I wonder if you can get the full 2 1/2" inch paddles under there?

The Camo Extreme is a fine track but, for the amount of weight one can save, I'd prefer a 156" Powerclaw. Now only if they would make one! I think that length would just about perfectly balance the fine line between being fun and having tremendous back country capability.

What do you guys think?

I'm right with ya on this one, I like the shorter length of the 153", but sometimes I feel like just that little bit of extra length might help me on the deeper days.

No, I don't want to either! But you do feel the length when going to the 162. Too much so, I like the feel of the 153 and 156! It feels and rides short while the 162 does not!

I just want a light weight 2.5" paddle 156 track and the Powerclaw pattern works!

I had wondered how much difference 3" in track length would make but, from what I have read, people really can notice a difference.

This is a great line though:

But hey, it's September and most of my favorite past times in life happen in months that end in "ber". :D

I would think that you would have trouble fitting a 156" track in the shortened tunnel of the 09's. The ones that I have heard have all been on the earler models. With the setup that you have, you would need a new bumper, rear tunnel, rails, and longer tubes between the rear cooler and tunnel heat exchangers. I wouldn't think that it would cost that much to change to the 162". You can probably sell the 153" track for most of what it would cost you for the 162". I think Mt. Baker Motosports has a few 162" Claws left for $500.

I am guessing they weren't comparing the same style of tracks. I am sure they were comparing the stock AC 2.25" to the CE 2.5." I would guess the difference they felt wasn't the length nearly as much as the taller lugs and superior design. I find it very hard to believe that ANYONE could feel the difference in 1.5" of track on the ground. I also highly doubt they will ever come out with a 156". It wouldn't be worth the expense to built it and inventory it for the extremely limited numbers they would sell.

Yeah but, if it were a 2.5" lug single ply Powerclaw it would sell like hot cakes!:D

156 I do not think so

156 I do not think they will mainly we do not have a 156 Track Machine.

You might see a 2.5 as a accessory in a 153 and 162 but not until economy turns around.

still waiting for a hard duro 162. and to me a 09 162 maneuvers better than a 07 153. Not that it matters seems like only half my track is on the ground anyway. back in 05 we compared a 153 m7 to a 162 m7 and there was no comparison the 162 would go 30-100ft farther, with the lighter sleds and new design I'd like to see it tested again, but all the people I ride with have diff mods.

156" camo extreme 2.5" fits just fine in the 2009 tunnel, I installed one this spring. No clearance issues except the inner lugs(inside track) on the extreme left hand side. Need to reduce their height by half so they don't rub on the diamond drive. Adjusters end up near the end, no snow flap issues, sled ends up significantly higher on the hill. :D

depends on snow conditions, a 153 PC will go farther in some conditions

if all tunnel were wider a 153x16 PC would be unreal!!! or better yet 153x16x2.4 (2.4 gives a bit for room for clearance!!!)

now thats my dream track!!!
