First i just got my clutch back from indydan.. It looks great!

Second, i still havent gotten my motor mounts. Thats okay. I expected them to take a while.

So the problem is this: If i put the primary clutch back on i cant pull the motor because i cant get my SLP torque arm disconnected/connected. Well i dont think. Maybe if i cut the bolt down a bit id be able to get it out. Since its too long right now anyways.
I could put the clutch back on and just take it back off when the mounts get here but everyone knows how much of a PITA that is.. Also i only have one new clutch bolt. So either id have to reuse one or buy another.... And i heard that reusing the bolt is a bad idea...

I just REALLY want to go riding.

You dont need a new clutch bolt ..only if it is stretched.

Run it...We have snow!!

Just make sure your have a washed belt and clean clutches.

Have fun.

Install those mounts when you get them

What kind of condition are your mounts in?
Im assuming theyre still good.. But i really have no idea. The sled only has 580 miles on it. Of which i have put 0 on it. Since i just bought it this summer.

I really just want to see how it runs before i pull the motor to find out if there are any other problems i need to address.

I don't think you will hurt the bolt much if you only pull it once and you have a perfectly balanced clutch. Mine was pulled and reused at least 2 or three times. No, one had told me I needed to replace it.

THe ride for today got cancelled. :(
Still going to get it all buttoned up and see how she runs on the trailer though.

Sooooooo. It looks like sat or sun ill get my first ride on this beast. Hope its a successful one. :D

I have never replaced a bolt just because it was used. No reason to unless it was severely overtorqued.

the spec on torquing the clutch bolt per polaris is 96lb lbs. they has been a debate for sometime now...

once you torque the bolt 96lbs a few times to get the clutch to "set" and say you pull the clutch off 3-4x that season, and every time you put it back on you have to do the 96lb torque...

well after a season of this, i will bet you money that bolt is stretched.

and once they stretch, they will loosen when being ridden or break off in the crank...just as 94fordguy ;)

indydan stated that 96lbs is really not needed as long as they are properly torque, he would do 80lbs..this is what i will be doing this yr as well, they key is torquing it slow, heat cycle the engine, re-torque...ride a few miles, re-torque and maybe one moce time a week after...and your set...

if you have never replaced your clutch bolt before, i would highly recommend doing it now..and at a minimum at least every 2 seasons...if you pull your clutches alot...every season a new bolt.

I think I read something about indydan saying 96 ft/lbs exceeds the rating on the bolt which would also contribute to bolts breaking.
