I want to apologize in advance

I want to apologize in advance for what I am going to do. After buying 7 new Polaris sleds over the last 12 years, I went and bought a new Doo with the Etec 800. Bending the crank on my Dragon was the last straw and after my buddies hyping up the Doos after their ride at the Deep Powder Challenge last week, I figured WTF, I'd Doo it.

The first day was rough, trying to figure out the balance of the sled, which I knew was going to be way different. The second day, it really started to come together. This sled has way better geometry than the older XP's when it comes to carving and the azz end doesn't wash out like my Dragon does.

I would have never guessed that I'd be riding a Doo and being excited to deal with the learning curve of the new chassis. (The first day, I had my doubts) It is much easier to get unstuck than my, Dragon, which is very helpful. You'll definitely be hearing more as the season goes on.......

Glad you like it:lol::lol::lol: I did the same thing last year with good results, but there's still a part of me that will always be more Poo than DOo. I have yet to ride a new Pro though, which I think would take me back to the other dark side. We'll see as soon as the bank account recovers this year.

skibreeze, Congrads on getting another sled even if it is a doo, I dont think it really matters much what brand that they are except for ribbing purposes, let me know if your old sled is still for sale, good luck.

That must have been a tough decision but there comes a time when enough is enough. Good luck with your new ride.

It is for sale, I'm looking at a crank pto end to get it back together, but I'll sell it as is or fixed.

Good luck on the new ride. Definitely keep us posted on the transition. Always good to hear how one compares to the other. Hell, if they run, they're all good.

congrats! i love my D7 but wish it had more power somtimes, but didnt want the issues of the 800 cfi. to me sledding is fun as **** no matter what you are on, even our 1994 phazer is still fun to ride!

You of all people, with your war record??? would be the last to have to apoligize. The E-tec is hands down a better built and designed machine with only one exception... the TRA.

Last week I swapped sleds with my 13 YO son and let him ride the new pro. I was slinging around the 96 500 he had been on and having a blast in the powder. Heck I even jumped across an open creek and couldn't get anyone to follow me so we had to follow it back to the road.
It doesn't really matter what you are riding as long as it runs.

I been thinkin about switchin brands too... just so I could go over to the Doo section and join the "monkey chiiiit fight at the zoo" they got going on over there....... :D

Seems like everyone of the threads over there is a little fight. Especially the turbo section.

Good Luck with the Ski-Dut. Hope it works better than the last. I came from the Ski-doo sleds to Polaris for similar reasons thinking it would be greener on the other side..however all I found was astro turf. At first I was frustrated with the Polaris chassis...then I just spent a day working on learning how to handle the chassis is good snow conditions..took some work but I finally got to smile as it all came together. I went back once and rode my friends XP and was surprised how I now liked the Polaris handling better. It all the same but different.

Every brand has it's issues..I will admit the 08 D8 hits a new record for me adn I have followed your trial..

Have fun and you have a lot or reading on the Ski-Doo sections to get up to speed.

As far as the TRA secondary goes...http://mountainblog.ski-doo.com/tech-tip-matching-the-tra-to-the-e-tec-800r/

I didn't jump ship thinking that the Doo is as reliable as an anvil, I just couldn't justify giving Poo any $$$ when they really didn't change that much with their motors. I also ride with Tudizzle and his XP simply gets on top of the snow better than the Polaris does, I was jealous at how little effort was needed to pull it out of a stuck as compared to mine. Like I said, my buddies that went to the DPC and really liked the Etec, so I literally said WTF lets do it, when I got the deal that I did on it. Thanks again to BossRev for that.

Did my first mod to it today, got my muff pot installed.

A man has got to know his limitations! Maybe someday I'll find mine?
Good luck! Hear the E-tec rips!

dont blame you, blew mine up and still waiting, kind of funny 800cfi pistons are back ordered(who knew) but atleast polaris is covering my 2008 . Bushy told me that your crank went because of a untightend bolt, is that true. good luck with the new sled

good luck on the new etec ski..they are a very nice sled..and everyone has their limit on what is acceptable...no shame in that at all..keep us up to date on how it works for you and what adjustments you have to make...good luck....

Congrats Ski:

Think I could get your spare pistons, rings, head, ecu, reg., capacitor, additional grounding wires, correct motor mount bolt, slotted motor mounts for correct belt alignment, spare gears, chain, chaincase covers, chain cases with the stripped drain plug holes, correct primary weights, additional spider shims, your silicone sealed headlight plenum, your spare goop from the headlight adjuster, your spare exhaust valve gaskets to keep them off the piston skirts, your torn bellows and broken springs, your WE shocks that were trash in 300 miles, your extra bogey wheels that didn't come with the sled (you keep the brittle scratchers that did), your $90 fuel filters, your oil cap that does vent, your spare threaded inserts from the stripped cowling and side cover mounts, your stock can with the broken baffles, and your spare Wildchild steering post. I may have forgtten a few things, just box them up too.

BTW, what really made you want to leave your Poo.........Doooohhhhhhh. EW

Yeeeeeeehaaaa. i started riding an xp this year. on the 2nd ride things became a little more fimiliar, and the 3rd was even better. by the fourth ride i was comfortable with the handeling , but was having trouble with the right hand 180 turn. but that day in trying to get it down i discovered a little handelbar tug at the right moment in time and it helped make my left hand 180 turn easier. after that day i was so impressed with the ability of the xp. turn's and whips quicker and sharper then my 06 rev and just left me grinin ear to ear. cant wait to get back up and ride. wrong foot forward can help with turns, but i found that it is not always needed. give it time and im sure you will love the xp chassis as well. and im sure that roosterbuilt will have the clutching dialed in for the e-tech soon. they have it dialed in at a perfect 1to 1 for the powertech! cheers:cheer2:
