When I first saw this pic it was very hard to see. I am still in the military and I have a son the age of the kid in this pic. I envisioned my son standing there like that....tough to see. It is now hanging in my office. If this pic doesn't pull at your heart strings I don't know what will.

It did need its own thread.

Thankyou Mountain-powder for your sacrafices to keep us all safe, most of us don't show NEAR the respect you men and women deserve, and I'm sorry for that.:(

BTW-VERY proud to be the great grandson of sailor, served in WWII on the USS West Virginia

Picture definately pulls at ones heart strings. I have known a few that have gone overseas, and some come back...others don't. This picture especially reminds me of my grandpa, who was a Vietnam Vet and his funeral just a year ago.. RIP to all the people of the armed forces that have been killed, and prayers are sent to all that are currently serving. They are Americas greatest heroes in my mind.

heavy heart but a proud heritage!!!

thank you MPS and others, we are VERY proud of you, and humbled that you and others put yourselves in harms way for me...and my family!!!

Thank you!

My wifes Grandfather served on the West Virginia, he was on it on 12/7/41. He grabbed his locker tag and key as it was going down and we have that. Is your Grandfather still around? I have been trying to find a pic of the crew with his name on the list for her(Okie Bartrug). She also is very proud of him. Thanks to all veterans for there service.:beer;

Funny, when I saw that picture as the last post on the other thread; I thought about posting "THIS THREAD RETIRED", but I had a meeting to get to and figured folks would think I was being a little melodramatic and probably would keep on posting. Glad I came home to this. MT Dream took the words out of my mouth. Keep you head down, your powder dry and come home soon.

thanks MTdream...really didnt mean to get attention...just sharing how the pic made me feel, honestly when I first saw it in my office at work I completely lost it. I had to cover the window in my office so no one would see me.

I wish I could give the world to all vets....I particulary love our world war 2 vets and citizens that fought and fought. What morals and strength they had! I wish I was in that generation now...with a sled of course! haha

We can only pray that this lil fella grows up strong and full of pride. Hopefully isnt bitter and ends up in a lifelong downward spin but strives forward as a future warrior. Some arent strong enough to use this to empower them on their journey thru life. I just saved this pic to my personal files for my children to see.............

Few weeks back, I was a pallbearer for the father-in-law's funeral.
Holding the flag above his casket was emotional during the 21 gun salute
He served during the Korean war

No words can fill the glass of sorrow the above picture represents
"Forever faithfull"

great pic.

I'd just like to send a personal thank you to all who are reading this that are involved with our forces. We do appreciate what you do and the sacrifices you make. Thanks again.
