I really hope that im not the dumb one here!!!

Justin, since you are on Snowest, come on to this thread and explain yourself. That was a real areshole maneuver you pulled. If you say " we have a deal" and a guy drives 6 hours to meet you, you better be handing over a check.

You are buying a used sled. Even if the chaicase needs some parts, big frickin deal. If you want a new condition sled, buy new. A few shavings means nothing.

IMO, you should be driving to this guys house this weekend with cash and an apology.

edit - I would never drive 6 hours to meet someone unless he paid a deposit. Even if it was $100, it pretty much commits the guy to show up.

I would really like to get gas money out of him but i really dont think that he will even call me. Me and my dad did get some great time together and I REALLY appreciate everyones feedback! Maybe this will give him the opportunity to show what kind of man he is.:face-icon-small-win

Let me at him... I'll show him what he gets for f'n around with one of my favorite young men! ;)

Shavings........ who'da thunk it? lol

Now what?

Now you can chalk this up to experience, and you shouldn't get burned again in the same situation (what will you do next time?)

I get the feeling from your description that the guy got cold feet on the sale and was looking for an excuse not to buy, or his dad who came out did not like the deal, sled, $$$ spent, etc......which while unfortunate is his right to back out of the sale.

Hey, drive 6 hours and I'll buy it BUT if there is any belt dust under the clutch guard I'll have my Dad there to tell you...........deal's off!!

TERRIBLE. JUST TERRIBLE. That's a lot of windshield time for that treatment.

I have "shavings" in my chaincase all the time.......so what.

I agee with previous post.....buyer wanted to back out for some reason and shafted you.

That is totally ridiculous. 6 hour drive and the guy backs out! It would have been very tough to hold back the temper.

Driving 6 hours is too bad! and I am bummed for you!

But..... I remember the thread a few months back about someone on here driving a long distance to buy a sled and it was not in the condition that was advertised, the guy still bought it, then it blew up! half the guys on here were ragging him for buying something he was unsure of!

Dude I don't care how far someone drives if I get that bad feeling in my gut, I walk away PERIOD!

No, you are not in the dumb.

Personally, if i had to drive 6 hours, heck or even 4, I would up the price just a bit to help pay for gas (or diesel). Cant really blame the guy for backing out, but backing out like that is ridiculous!

It is a very simple ? that he could have saved me 12 hours total of driving and over 250$ is gas! i wouldnt have lied to him! Backing out would have been fine, BEFORE I GOT THERE!!!

I'll take the time to thank the guy, that drove 6 hours to deliver my sled to me without deposit. I had a deal setup pretty much the same but I sent a buddy down with the money. I bought the thing site unseen. When you say we have a deal, that should mean, we have a deal. IMO

I agree to a point, to buy my last sled I drove 8 hours and the seller drove 5, I was quite nervous, but I wasn't going to buy if it it wasn't as advertised. There are things that should be disclosed to the buyer, and then theres dumb things like this guy backing out. Like if say you said the track had 1 torn lug and there was like 20 lugs missing, THAT would be a reason to want to lower the price or back out, but not something so small, because that's the difference between a good shape and needs replacing part. He defionatly wanted to back out or would of said "well since there is this problem, how about knocking off a bit of $$?".

Sorry to hear aboot your experience McFarckle, life is a learning curve, make them come to you eh! Life is tough but it's even tougher if your stupid. Cheers Red Dog. P.S Hope to hook up for a ride in 09

ohhh! let me at 'em I'll splat'm...raw...you got the slick d!ck....I would have demanded on the spot cash for my time.you got his address...blanket party:eek:j.k.but seriously shavings...so lame.it is the chunks i worry about.

I have either purchased or sold 7 sleds on SnoWest over the past 5 years and have driven as far as 12 hours each way to do the deal. Fortunately, I have never had a deal go South YET (knock on wood). I did purchase one sled that looked a whole lot better in the pics than it did in person but bought it anyways because I had just driven 8 hours to get it. A few extra bucks and a lot of elbow grease and I started to feel a bit better about the deal.

So worst case this shmuck would have had to pick up a chain and some gears off of the forum for $50 bucks and all would have been settled. Sounds like he didn'y even try to negotiate a better price so his mind was set before you even got there.

It really sucks when something like this happens.....Hold onto the sled til October and you can sell it locally for $3300 and get your gas money back one way or another.

if there was something that was not known about the sled I can see saying no, but that is rediculous, I would have had a hard time with my temper.
