I really hate to say this....

Isuzu makes the Duramax engine for/with GM.
Lot of beefed up JAP trucks out there I guess. lmao.
Don't know about you guys, but my Tundra was designed and built in Texas by Americans.

Built, yes. Designed no. Where do the profits from that truck go?

I'll give you a hint, not Texas.

Well my Toyota dealer told me American engineers working for Toyota designed it, not sure where you heard different.
They're here to make money, no doubt, but I'll help profit a company that gives me a quality product, not lip service.

my buddys dad had only great things to say about his tundra.....:):)

yea very lame, and yes they are, one of the most american trucks made as far as assembly and everything goes.

I cant imagine what would make toyota think building truck in the US was a good idea in the first place . Japanese quality has always been better than ours and still is. In the machine shop biz jap machine tools are hands down the choice for quality. It certainly cant be to save money on labor.

They save tons on import fees. since it is made here they dont have to pay them.

How many GM's and Fords to i pass on the trail or pull out? a wholeeeeee lot:p:p:D:D

Hey C-man...I have a old blue chevy that isn't scared of you and your toy;)
Let me know when you wanna go and I'll show you some good stuff in the canyon...If you can follow me:D

I thought it was about import fees also, however, I was told by a toyota rep that the wages in Japan are about the same as here.

That coupled with import fees and shipping costs makes it more than profitable to build it here. That and the current weak dollar makes it REALLY affordable.

I'll tell you what, I used to be a DIEHARD GM guy ... The last several GM vehicles my family has owned, my 2005 2500HD and my dad's 2000 Sierra aside, have been pure crap. My mom's brand-new-off-the-showroom-floow Caddilac CTS is pending lemon-law legal action, my old 2000 Silverado was in 23 times while it was still under warranty and that was before that truck was ever even used to go on fishing trips, and the paint on my dad's brand new 2008 Silverado is already flaking off ...

There are some SERIOUS quality control issues facing domestic auto makers these days and from what I can tell the japanese auto makers don't have near the problems with quality that the domestics do ...

Now before you go bash me as being anti-american, let me explain my thoughts. The foreign automakers don't have to deal with Unions. Pure and simple, I'm absolutley %100 amazed that domestic automobiles are as good as they are when you take into account that labor unions have completley bled the US manufactuers and their suppliers dry. The expect exorbient pay for shoddy work, etc .... the foreign automakers don't have to deal with this horse crap.

If the US automakers could put more money into R&D that would exist were it not for bull**** unions, we would probably see domestic automobiles that would go 500,000 miles before they ever even needed major service....

If you want quality US automobiles, don't support the f*cking labor unions. :)

There's a bulletin on the tailgate, they will give you an updated one
As for the paint, my Tundra chipped bad, my Tacoma seem's to be better
I think emission control has affected the strength of paint, years ago japanese bikes went through crappy paint and clearcoat for a few years
