I really hate to say this....

But my loyalty to toyota is on the edge....My mountain bike has more durable paint than my new tacoma, and the bedliner that is the ONLY option traps water and causes rust. Not to mention the tailgate that cant support the back of 2 DIRT BIKES?!?

My old ones were the toughest things ever, and this one (2006) is a serious step down. I love the look, but these things arent built for the mud/woods/fun stuff anymore....

It isn't just Toyota. The paint on the last several GM vehicles my family has owned, from my 2000 Silverado all the way to my dad's 2008 Silverado, have had horribly shoddy paint jobs. My dad's 2008 isn't even 6 months old yet with less than 10k miles and the paint has already started chipping. My 2000's started chipping, my 2005's got little tiny rust spots in it already...

Factory paint has suffered greatley in the new century apparently :(

MY first 22r ran for 260k.

The engine in this one is great (for me) really great power. Its just the design and quality control of the actuall truck (paint, tailgate etc. ) that really pisses me off.

The factory locking diff. is nice though....

Assuming you have the 4.0. What tranny, and what is the mileage it gets?

I would be happy as a pig in chit if all that was wrong w/ my dodge was the bullchit paintjob, the piece of crap tailgate, and a little rust in the bed that could be fixed by rhinoliner!!!

problem is the liner is the bed, like the actual metal bed is a frame, and then the plastic is what makes it a "bed" if that makes any sense.
