I would gladly pay to help out!
I've given this a fair amount of thought, and my simple answer is NO I will not pay to use this site. Like Duner, most of my closest friends today have come from people I have met through this site and riding with them. However, this site would not exist if these guys (Snowest/Harris Publishing) were not making money already. If I pay money to use this site, I would expect to have a say in how it runs. Like others have said, I typically only come to the Utah Section anymore. The days of fun interaction in other areas seem to have passed. The site used to have a ton of useful information. Unfortunately, a lot of the information was lost a few years ago when the site was changed over to this new format. I see more bashing and brand loyal jargon than useful information now in the other sections. We now have a problem of this place running too slowly. I am hardly ever on here anymore because I don't have the time, and patience, for the "slower than bad dial up" speed. Other forums exist, and they will likely all benefit from Snowest's current problems. However, like previous attempts, they will will not likely take the place of what we have now. Maybe we should "all" start our own site!? We all chip in and manage it! That way we would ensure that we all move over to it! ??? Just a thought!

Why go somewhere else? this place is great, I think a small fee would help make it even better, I think the fee would be fine as long as it goes towards the forums, servers, bandwidth, etc....

Because other places already exist where I can get the same entertainment for free! The Snowest Forums are what they are because of US the users.....NOT Snowest/Harris Publishing! I truly appreciate what they provide for us, but it definitely benefits them or why would any company continue to provide such a forum? I've donated to them before, but I saw no positive change, just more of the same, and the place became even more user unfriendly.

American Snowmobiler tried to go with a pay to play forum a few years ago and they are still trying to recover. They didn't have much to start with and it destroyed what was there.
If SnoWest tries to make everyone pay the same will happen here, everyone will move over to different free forums and the sheep will follow.
Remember when this forum had no advertisements?? It wasn't that long ago.
