"Free Healthcare"? I can't believe you just posted that H2SNOW. Your post explains exactly why I and many other Americans do not want anything to do with your socialized medicine. The part in bold is why there is waiting time in your country for people that desperately need care, because people go to the doctor for any little thing because it's "free". My grandmother's husband had to wait 3 months to get tested for a tumor. People can DIE during that time.

He has told me flat out that the American system of Medicine is better and he has gotten medical care here.

I don't think you know how bad you have it.

Like a slightly disfunctional ADHD kid in a candy store with a no limit visa card! In my region of the country the regional health boards are trying to get a honda civic to ride like a bentley. Always asking for more money, newer hospitals and ever growing waiting lists. We have 2 tier medical in BC right now, if you got the bucks you get fixed yesterday. Socialized medicine only means socialists doling out the medicine bucks. Most of them are heavily unionized and all the true talent left for the states long ago. We got left with the ugly sister of healthcare. Try it for yourselves, not all it's cracked up to be. Maybe then all the good doctors will come back.

How much do you Canadians give to the Federal government per year(percentage wise) or a dollar amount(need to know your salary though) through the income tax or however that money is transferred to your government. Is it dependant on if you're single, married, number of kids, age, health, etc. Give me a run down of how it works.

A great part of socialized medicine is that some pay and all get coverage. In Canada we pay the poor province's bills and they put nothing back in our pockets. Talk about massive welfare on a province by province basis. Hope you frozen sicko's are enjoying the health care $ the rest of us western provinces are paying for. Socialized health care is just a lame azz excuse for the have nots {Yukon, Quebec, NWT and Maritimes to belly up to the health care trough! All the more reason for western separation! Personally sick of payin the bills for free loaders. If you think the drug companies are screwing us.....invest in pfizer etc.
If you think the insurance companies are screwing us, set money aside for healthcare.

And most of all, remember that when someone sues a Dr......we ALL pay that tab.
We all would love to win the lottery, but too many people see a lawsuit as their winning ticket.

well i am of two shades of our health care...i mean we do pay for it...everyday...higher gas prices,gst,etc etc..taxes hid everywhere...booze cigs gas grocerys....we do pay...so i think that if i pay for it i wish i could chose my doctor..chose the expetise im paying for etc...but we are meant to feel to accept what we are given cause its so called free...nope no way...cost big bucks with no choices or rights with going with paying for a service..dental is not free for me...dentalcare plans outrageous...fees through the roof...850.00 root canals..etc..no wonder the old timers use battery acid dipped on a cotton swap to kill toothaches..if i had all the money that was payed in hidden costs for my free medicare i would probably be furture ahead having to have paid for it or had good insurance policys...

i agree with you...but as well one point we do miss...teh cost of training the doctor and the infastructure etc is not covered by there tuitions etc...or what they owe in loans at the end....there is a huge cost associated with training them covered by the poor guy in the ditches with a shovel...i think he does have some rights to complain...just not arguing...but it is a point and concern..i just thought at least in Canada that a tuition was 2,500 year and the cost to train that person was over 70.000..??...so who is paying the shortfall..??

Not all are b1tchin, some of us remember that at one time we were a world power. Unfortunately we had a libby govt when iraq {second attempt} came about. Not my fault as my immediate family is mostly employed in the national security profession. Believe me we know what the score is when terrorists are involved. The matter of national security leaves me very sad and humble when talking to you Americans. Since someone brought it up earlier you did not answer the bell in WW2 either. My father was in europe for 2 years before America woke up and got going. No one country can claim they have been perfect in this regard. However going forward we as aCanadian people are burdened by a minority conservative govt, who has to constantly lower expectations and amend laws to satisfy the libby opposition. If our last federal election was held today the polls say we would have a conservative majority. The best thing about economic turmoil is up here we always vote conservative when poop hits the prop. Would be a nice day when all North American soldiers would go into battle as a united force. After all we share many social and economic ties between us. If we could kick the french out up here we would have a lot better go of it. Let them separate, just let each of them cover their share of the national debt. See ya froggie! Major shortage of doctors here.But yet they only let a small number of people into medical school if your white forget it lower grades darker skin your in.We dont have one doctor in our town born in Canada.Whoever runs the system needs to be replaced.
