I am gonna have an interview with Schlumberger at 8pm MST. I know that it is cutting things short, but does anybody have some knowledge about them. I have been studying their website for the last 2 hours.

Just looking for some inside or personal info. Wish me luck and thanks for all of the help.

Wasn't he the Dean in Animal House? lol Sorry that's no help. When answering questions focus on what you can do for them and why your the best man for the job. What's the position? Best of luck.

Field Specialist. It must be a pretty broad position because there isn't a whole bunch of detail in the job description on the website (www.slb.com)

Ralph,

Here's some general advice.

1. Read the latest news on the company (i.e. press releases).

2. Don't be afraid to ask questions about job specifics. If you can, relate those specifics back to one of your previous jobs. It'll show that you can relate to their job.

3. Emphasize that you can hit the ground running.

4. Be prepared to answer a question about pay. Be honest in what you want.

Those are the big things I try to remember. GOOD LUCK BROTHER!!!!!

Looked up the link. actually didn't see "Field Specialist" under careers. Oil and gas exploration services... Maybe just looking for hard working field crew to do whatever they have open. Run Seismic exploration equipment/instruments, GPS, transit, rigger?

Thanks,Tim. I have been reading through the website since 5:30pm or so. I think that they are based out of Texas (Sugarland).

Where is that in relation to you?

Yeah, all I could find was a position for "Specialist", but the confirmation email states "Field Specialist"

Yeah, that's pretty ambiguous, but if the second interview is "all day" as stated, I'm guessing they're looking for more than field crew. lol Sounds like they're looking for good raw material to groom for positions of responsibility. Sounds like a lot of work could be involved.....run!! J/K, if your serious then jump in with both feet, but be ready to sacrifice. Shoot I haven't interviewed for 20 years...don't listen to me :D

Hey buddy,

Here's a couple things to add to what Tim has said.

Be honest, CONFIDENT, and as much of a no brainer as this sounds Sell yourself to them. Offer up things, small talents and experiences that don't make the Resume.

Keep answers direct and short but complete. It's not a BS'ing session.

If they ask you for a piece of information that you don't have, Always, as corny as it sounds, say I'm not sure, but I can get the information and get back to you on that. Don't guess cause if you guess wrong it's game over. If they actually want the info, GET IT and get back to them.

These are things I've learned from sitting on both sides of the interview table.

I'm guessing that due to the time it's a phone interview, so try to sound enthusiastic about it even though it's tough given your circumstances. If your already getting an interview chances are that they see something they like on your resume. Try to get that out of them and elaborate on it.

Good Luck

Yep, it's a phone interview.

Ralph,

Sugarland is southwest of Houston. I have an uncle there and my in laws are there too. It's a nice place. From my house it's about 2-2.5 hours depending on traffic.

If you need to come in for an interview, I can set you up at my inlaws or at my house. You're always welcome.

Thanks! I really hope that it goes that far.

Thanks for the tips. It's almost time, so I had better get ready. I'll let ya'll know what happens.

Be honest, be yourself. I've hired many field crew and it was usually people that were genuine, had a good personality and sounded like they could hack it when it got tough. Go get em!

WOW Awesome of you Tim :o

Well, I think it went good. She said that I should hear from them in 1 to 2 weeks about the next step.

I think that I asked some good questions regarding the company and she gave me some good answers. I was comfortable with the answers she gave me.

I did ask what drew their attention to me and she said that they were drawn to my experience in drafting, topography and the construction staking that I was involved in.

PJ jeez I was feeling sorry for you! Now I'm pizzed! I've been looking for a job for 6 months and havn't been getting anywhere. I've been doing handyman stuff to get by ,but no career jobs. I've spent big bucks on resumes and career counciling and all I get are false promises of interviews. Good Job I wish you luck!
