I got invited to ride the Colorado 500

Some more details please. I just perused the website and it's pretty basic. Not alot of info.

How many riders? Who gets invited? What is ridden? Just curious

But congrats.

Yeah, sucky web site

The Colorado 500 began in the fall of 1975. Wally Dallenbach and Sherm Cooper spent a few days in the Colorado Rockies riding the off-road trails and visiting old ghost towns of the gold and silver mining era. Since they had traveled approximately 500 miles on their ride and being that Wally was a former Indy 500 Race Car Driver, they called the first ride the "Colorado 500".an annual event that came to be known as the COLORADO 500 INVITATIONAL CHARITY DIRT BIKE RIDE.

its a 500 mile invitation only dirt bike ride, must be invited by a veteran of the ride, limited to about 300 riders each year, some years there are few rookies but with the economy they had to open it up a little, my riding buddy got invited last year so he invited me this year, 1500.00 covers all lodging and food for all 5 days,

they haul your gear from stop to stop, so you can just ride

not sure if I can swing it but I think I might try, its a dyeing thing just like everything else

Cool. Sounds like a kick in the butt. I'm assuming that you must have a legal bike for roads? My brother rode in it a couple years ago on his but I don't know the details. I'd love to do it sometime, but I just have a 2 stroke

I agree, I'd find a way to do it. What happens if your bike or you go down? Do they just help you out of the backcountry?

Do what you have too. Beg Borrow just don't pass it up. Very hard to get a invite. Lots of FUN
