im not sure if this is normal or not but i raced a 01 ski doo 700 with just a can, with a 151 and he beat me at least 2 sled lengths (raced to 120km)

i knew the 900 was heavy but damn i would have though with my 151 it would have been at least neck and neck.

also my 05 has slp heads, single pipe system, been clutched and re geared(to what i dunno, like that when i bought it.)

It's a big heavy mountain sled, not a sports car, lol... it takes time to get everything up to speed.

In a drag race I am sure my 02 800 would win by a couple sled lengths, that doesn't mean it climbs or boondocks better.

I'm not the one to defend the 900, but if you 900 has the 2.4 track on it then just about anything with a 2" track is going to beat it in a drag race. Plus you say it's been re-geared... did you gear it down I'm guessing?

If either or both of those things are true then it isn't a surprise you got beat.

Long stroke motor is made for torque not drag racing. many other sleds will outrun it in a drag race. My old indy 650 would kill my 900 in a drag race. If you are looking to race your sled you have the wrong sled.

If you still have the stock 151 track the skidoo is going to take you off the line every time too, the stock skidoo track hooks up a lot better than the 151 track on the polaris 900.

When new the factory would not warranty track with speed damge ( 70 mph max) at "extended interval" and suggested they would delaminate or loose paddles.
That said mine would spank an 05 Ski Doo 800 everytime by the same amount so we tried his wifes 800 (same) with same results!! Then I regeared and they got even!!!

1. the 900 is heavier
2. you are most likely geared for climbing, not racing
3. your clutching is different then his...and you may have the wrong helix as well.

my full mod 900s will get smoked in a drag race...some people dont understand the basics and think they have better setups cause they beat you....i had a friend that beat me all the time on a bone stock 02 800 EDGE...nothing but sh1t talk...but infact he is an IDIOT and has ZERO sled setup knowledge...

gotcha,, thanks guys, yeah its the stock Polaris 2 inch track. i can only guess its been re geared cuz i got 2 cogs and a chain when i bought it along with a bunch of spare clutch parts. im going to take it apart and see what its actually got then search the how to section and see what i can do...

also he was out climbing me too.

guidoxpress- do you have a quick link to helix? those still some what baffle me.

He's out climbing you because of your track. Try to find a series V or a challenger extreme with taller paddles.

We used to go by the moto, "If a Doo can beat you in a drag race don't go near a hill with it or it will get ugly".

I'm guessing that Doo isn't stock either.
