I feel ****ing terrible......

About 15 years ago, coming home from the lake, I was coming over a hill crest, and saw a family of ducks cross. Mom in front waddling away with the babies following closely...

All I saw was feathers behind me as I thumped over the mom.

Another time I smoked a cat while it was eating some other road kill. It ran away, and it was the middle of the night so I didn't even bother to stop/

Another time, heading home from work, I saw something ... which I at first thought was a piece of tumbling newspaper only to realize it was a baby duck aimlessly running down the road. thump. I hit that one also. Didn't have the heart to tell the girlfriend at the time.. she woulda held a funeral/.

I feel bad about all these incidents, but one must realize that it is gonna happen.

Worst story I ever heard was a fella I know was driving his bigrig down east in pitch black and hit a clydesdale horse. He had a big front bumper... put a good dent, he felt it saved his life. He stopped and heard the horse in the field, wailing in agony. He called the RCMP and they came but would not put the animal down until they found the owners. the poor animal was done and in grave condition. He was ready to find anything to kill the huge beast but the cops said to wait. It was a sad situation/

Those sounds of the horse are still in his mind.

Ya if they are annoying little whitetails...I hear ya...don't they have special hunts up there to control the population? If a herd is out of control...your fish and game people should be allowing 2-3 deer to be taken per person.
they do, we can buy 3 tags per season. need to let us have a dozen, or make it legal to shoot them from the highway....mebbe that'll put some fear into 'em.....:D

the reason they let us have 3 they say, is because of the deer eating cattle hay/feed supplies. not one mention of the millions each year it must be costing the insurance industry...odd.

A buddy who hauls to prudoe bay on the haul road was telling me about this guy who was hauling _ss up there with his loaded rig...come over a hill at over 75 and ran into a herd of caribou....he had 27 boo wedged in the chassis of the truck and trailler by the time he got stopped...and another dozen walking wounded..fish and game had a fit.. drivers said a mile of the road looked like a war zone....

.

i ran over a mother duck on hwy 16 west of edmonton a few years back, she had 8 or 10 little ducklings following her. I was in the far right lane pulling a 32 wheel combo with traffic on my left, she came marching out of the ditch and across the shoulder quacking until her head went under the back of the wheeler tires, and little ducklings scattered everywhere. I felt bad for a bit until i looked over and the female passenger in the pickup that was passing me had her face buried in her hands shaking her head, while her old man was laughing his azz off....then i felt better.

Every deer i see on the highway or coming across, i line 'em up and knock them into next week with my 'roo bumper. No remorse, except when they explode and i gotta clean them off my rig.

azzhat

i hit two deer last year at the same time, all four locked up and a car comin towards me threw one to the right the other right in front of the on coming car, watched the geo metro run right over the top of it, my dogde was fine just a little treakin to the bumper, metro totalled had to come get towed, i felt like crap since i hit it straight at him but there was much i could do

Oh and while I'm at it, a guy got 6 horses with a car up around Lovell a couple of years ago. It had to be some kind of crazy deal to get that many at once!

A few years back a semi took on a herd of elk that were standing in the middle of I-90 in the middle of the night, I think he killed about 8 elk, you could see the stain on the interstate for weeks.
