I don't like the rider position of new sleds. Where should I look?

The plus side in this, is that your going to save a lot of money. 1 sled for a couple hundred, and you'll never have to replace it again. I don't see any of the companies going back to the 80's, and 90's for sled technology again. :face-icon-small-ton

So would you say they were as fun as the new stuff?

Problem with that answer is BACK then it was all new and fun. You just could not have a bad day of riding. Now our expectations are higher. So yes they were as fun as the new stuff back in there day. But not today.

I always thought it would be fun to have a vintage ride/hill climb event. But then you add the 1000 miles of drive time and expenses of hotels and I will stick with the new stuff. If I lived closer I would probably have a vintage sled as a toy along with my new stuff.

Well, I rode those up until about 1994, so it's been a while.

It was my favorite sled back then...of course. I can't EVER imagine, for ANY reason, liking the JD more than my current sled (2013 RMK), LOL

find a Cat ZL or ZR 500, or an Indy 500. I would have to say I'd feel more confident buying the old Indy for reliability than the cats. That sounds about what you're looking for though.

I'd say suck it up and adapt to the new style.

Going from my Pro back to my M8 is like going from from my 2012 cummins to a 1982 Chevy.

The funnest sled I've ever ridden was a John Deere Sportfire. I like the low, close to the ground rider position and light mass weight of those sleds. There's something about being closer to the snow that makes it more fun for me.

The newer sleds are narrow, but also higher off the ground which to me is counter intuitive.

What should I do?

This smells like a troll!

Maybe you should try a time machine!

I broke my back in 97 the new sitting position never came fast enough I CANNOT ride the older style sleds.I Think it took 3 hours on the rev and I was sold.

Have you spent any time on a Polaris Edge, low seat, decent bars, very stable. I've spent the last two years on a Pro and everytime I get on the old edge I can't help but smile. The old Edge eats up the whoops 10X better than the Pro and when in a steep gnarly downhill I can ride the Edge with my eyes closed and hands off the bars, I have to ride the sh!t out of the Pro and hope I make it out the bottom in one piece.

My wife enjoyed riding the edge chassis over the iq. She felt safe on it and shes like 5'5" so the seat hight was ok for her. I remember i could two foot side hill that edge for days and if you hit a bump it would keep going. On my iq if i hit a bump it throws me off my line, hope this pro rmk is better.... Or maybe i was better at sledding 10 years ago.....

I remember the "good old days". We would spend half a day trying to break over Middle Kootnay Pass and then ride back to the trucks to fuel up so we could go over. Was it fun? Hell yes. Were we smart? Hell no! But it was what it was. I will never trade a Tapex with a Racer's Edge skid for the old 433 or Liquifire!! :beer;:beer;
