OutlookA major storm is blasting through the Beehive state today. Compared to the last couple of days, the old adage is quite true, "you wait five minutes or drive 5 miles and the weather will change". Rainfall has been locally heavy from Brigham City to Salt Lake City. Reports of half of an inch to nearly one inch have been received in the KSL Weather Center...and I expect some totals to exceed one and one quarter inches by tonight and tomorrow morning (in particular east and south of the Great Salt Lake). Rain will mix with snow as low as the Benches this evening, with precipitation continuing to the south and east of the Great Salt Lake overnight and early tomorrow morning. Snowfall totals are expected to range from 6 to 12 inches in the Wasatch Mountains, with locally higher amounts in the Cottonwood Canyons above 8,000 feet. Temperatures will turn cold enough that gardeners will need to monitor frosty conditions throughout much of Utah tomorrow morning.
