I am buying a Assault/ which on 09 or 10

I am choosing between an 09 or 10. The 09 is new with warranty and a lot cheaper than 2010. What are the exact differences between them, I don't really see much at all. I'm sure the 09 will get all the updates for the engine. I see some sites show the 2010 with walker evans needle coil overs and others show the airs. Thanks.

If Im not mistaken the 2010 has Walker Evans piggy back shocks and the 09 had the regular Walker Evans shocks.

Either way both are nice sleds.. why not just go for the 2010..

I think it depends on what "a lot cheaper" is. The updates to the 09 will bring it to the 10 specs. The only difference is the front shocks. Some people had issues with them leaking last year. Search the forum for details. If the price difference is enough, you could always replace the shocks on the 09 with the 10 shocks.

I'm contemplating the same decision, only with a 800 dragon. The 2010 has a different cyl. with longer sleeves for more piston support. Or so I read from another poster on here. The cases are different to match up to the cyl block also. This might be a good selling point come resale time. And remember the 2010 will be worth more in another year than an 09 will, so the diffence in price now, will not all be lost. The Matte black looks cool, I want a snocheck dragon in that matte black.

was there a snowcheck version assault, if so what did you get with it?

no the assault was a limited order sled last year and was suposed to be snow check only but dealers got others as well... like others said the front shocks are the only big difference. and the air piggy back shocks leaked sometimes. i like the shocks the 2010s have much better

Assault is an assault snow check or not sled is the same!

i have an 09 assault, had the updates done, they said it was updated to everything the 10 has, head pistons cyl walls, i rode my last year without a problem with the shocks or engine, but i got the update done, so hey got a freshen top end after a year of riding. the shocks i've heard so much bad stuff about, the air piggies don't have a good rep, but i guess i'll keep using them, i don't like the coil overs, if they go bad i'll put floats on it, if i bought a new sled i'd put floats on it, at least they don't mind cold weather out of the box, only reason is for the weight.
