has anyone ever done hydrodipping on sled parts? just wondering how well it holds up to brush and such?

I have been experimenting with it lately and it seems to be very durable.

The process is just a step in between your color base coat and clear coat. But the film itself seems pretty strong considering how thin it is.

PM Zone28M7, he owns a hydrodipping company out of Colorado. He's got a legit website that will get you headed in the right direction. I didn't have anything done but asked him some questions about having a gun stock done and he was quick to reply and very informative. www.galleygraphics.com is his site. I know he hydrodipped the hood of his sled and it looked like it has held up well.

my son in law is setting to do that at his home in IDAHO FALLS should be ready around mid november

Meathooker here on the forum sells his foot boards with the option of being dipped.. I opted for a set last year and they held up great.. I didnt get any chips in it or flaking at all.. They were dipped and then clear coated over.. Its very durable. He used H2O graphics in Boise. They have lots of designs to choose from. http://www.h2ographx.com/

The dipping and pattern is not the big durability issue (other than base adherence)... It is the clear-coat that is put on after the pattern has been dipped that dictates a major portion of durability concerns.

There's a shop in Butte, MT that is going to be doing this as well. My understanding is that the clear coat is key to the durability. I have seen some really cool dipping done on ATV plastics, it looks like paint! Can't wait till the local guy is up and running!

hydro dip

I have had my xp hydro dipped for the past 3 years and it has held up to some extreme conditions and lots of tree riding. I had mine done at h2ographx in nampa idaho. Kelly is great to deal with. He is also a snowmobiler and has done several sleds of guys I ride with and the durability is great. Check out his website at h2ographx.com. he has lots of pics and he also does custom airbrush work also. Check him out you will be happy you did he also has prices listed.
