Hunting near Dillon

Hey guys,

I searched around a bit here but did not see much mention of people hunting on the forum. I'm new to the area and am trying to get a grasp on figuring out the seasons out here. I may have some time to hunt and was hoping to chase elk or mulies. I'm in the Dillon area when I'm not working, but there just seems to be too many options of places to hunt and seasons to hunt. I've been looking at just buying the OTC bull tag so I have some options, but am also looking at leftover tags as well. I was also looking for deer tags but there doesn't appear to be much aside from the idaho springs to nederlands area(38 &29). Anyone know if this would be worthwhile? I'm not trying to get exact spots, but if someone wants to point in a general direction and help someone new to the area out that would be great!

Thanks

Great deer and elk area up on Porcupine Ridge right behind you. Forget deer this year and go wapiti. Also, take a drive up to the Summit County Landfill, keep going past it and explore those roads. The road up to Porci Ridge is tight but you can get to lots of areas. Also a great bear unit.

I just arrowed my bull this morning somewhere close to where I ride sleds. ;)

Thanks for the lead PJ. I had not really looked at that area at all. Most of what I was looking at on maps was zones 371, 37, and 28. 371 was what I was going to check out first, but maybe that will change now.

Congrats on your bull, thats awesome you were able to take it with your son there. I see your right in Kremmling, we'll have to meet up and ride this season sometime.

Thanks again,
TJ
