Hunters and the Puyallup Snow Show

I'm curious. Over the past few years there has been alot of grumbling that Puyallup fell on opening weekend of hunting. My understanding is that this wasn't the case this year. Curious as to how many of you got to enjoy the show this year due to this (that couldn't/didn't in the past due to the conflict)?

Not as many as we think

For all the flak we've take over the last 5 years ( wssa expo committee) I would have thought there would have been more people at the show, Only an increase by about 300 over the last couple years. I guess 300 more is better than 300 less !

I came home from hunting camp a couple days early for the show.
Modern firearm deer season is only 9 days where I hunt (south east WA). Its difficult to justify hunting when you take off one of the weekends to go to the snow show. I chose to go to the show this year but have chosen to stay at camp the past couple years.
Not really complaining though--its kinda just life.

Hunting season was still open as Big T says. If the show was a week before or a week after modern rifle more guys would be there. How many who knows...

Chose to stay home from modern rifle deer hunting and attend the snow show. Glad i did as everyone that i knew that did go hunting ate thier tags. No motivation to go hunting this year for some reason.

Seems like there is some resentment about the issue? Kinda weird blaming attendance on hunters not showing up? Might be with the great economy everyone was off on a vacation? It may have been a flop without the date change? I’d think that the promoters would do whatever they think best… people can always adjust their schedules?

I didn’t spend a lot this year, but I did take stock of what was available, deals, venders, etc. I am now regretting not being more prepared with what I needed and what was a good price. It was good to go and see some of the people I don’t get to see that often, and meet others.

The ironic thing is that I skipped Washington hunting this year for the first time since 90 – 94’ (Army).

My first time at the snow show in 7 years, always missed for opening weekend rifle hunting. There is always something open that time of year. Modern rifle is the most "attended" of the seasons. I guess if you ended up just doing it for me then Thanks!

And even if you didn't change the datejust for me, Thanks for continuing having the show and supporting the sport!!!

yup...

I, too am thankful that the show was between the two seasons... (deer opener, & elk opener)...

worked out great this year..!!..

There were 4 of us that made it..!!..

Keep up the great schedule...

Very cool to hear that some of you got to go that normally don't.

For me, personally, this is one of my never ever ever ever miss events of the year. It is an amazing event that I want to see prosper and grow.

First time for me to the snow show!!, it would be nice to have it the first weekend in Oct. But thanks for the change.

JUST FOR INFO,

Just so everyone knows, we have several problems we have to deal with when putting on the show and changing the dates. One In order to get the manufactures there, we have to find dates that work for them, secondly, the puyallup fair ends in september and they have so many weekends to get it back in order so any sooner will not work for the fair. 3rdly the fair books out years in advance, not many dates available
