HP gain for 09 M1K

I am wondering what I can do to increase horsepower with out adding a fuel controler. It is completly stock now. 50% of the time I ride at sea level and the rest is at 3000-6000ft and 25-35 degrees F. I will be honest I am not a real big tweaker(Tuner) but can get the job done. I would like to add as much as possible without the controler. It seems that is were people with the same skills set as mine get into trouble and cause a lean burn down, but maybee I am wrong. Is a controler a big ugly thing to tackle and learn about. Also I would like to stay with pump gas as there is no place around to buy race gas. I have about $1500 to burn to make it happen. Thank you for any info you can provide.

start of with a pipe and can probably both from SLP see where that gets you.....after that make sure you clutching is right that alone will make a world of difference

first off get the can. Then is what you need to do is check your spark plugs after about twenty-50 miles with it, if they are burning rich add the y-pipe, guaranteed at least 15 hp between the two of them. Don't worry about the pipe Arctic Cat already makes the best pipe in the industry. Much more then the y-pipe and your risking burning it up. But if they are still running rich, add the air intake, you loose another 8 lbs and more hp. This is what I did with mine, it runs like a rapped ape. Also get the clutch modded, your powerbands will be even bigger and snapier. Otherthen that do the SLP pipe set up, guarnteed 200+ but do it with the power commander as it comes already mapped for you depending on your elevations, which sounds what would help your case!

I would recommend getting egts if you start modding to the point of needing a fuel controller. It makes it easier to see where you need to change the map and will let you know if it is getting close to burn-down temps.

SLP full exhaust with power commander and clutching, for what you know it will work. Definitely get egts. (koso dual fast probs work great) Put the egts in the stock y-pipe and get some readings before you mod it, most important, hold it at 6-6100 rpm for a while until the egts stop climbing and record the temp, then make a wot pull at least 12 sec long(longer than it seems) try for 15 sec and the egts should level off and hold at one temp. this will get you a base of where the sled likes to run. remember you want to be running the right rpm, stock and with the pipe. If you get the slp setup make sure you are hitting 7600-7800 or the fuel map wont be right. Its not that hard to do and should be less then $1500.00. I would get the PCIII as you can tune it easier on the hill and unless your going to add a lot more stuff you don't need the V.
I always burp the throttle when running down the trail around the 6000 rpm to keep the egts well below 1250 like it was stock, just cheap insurance.
