We just came back from a week there, staying in a cabin in little Minnesota (near Crooked Creek & Line Shack). I won't lie to you, the snow was disappearing fast up there. We had a whole week with no new snow, but they had been dumped on before that. I think they are supposed to start picking up some fresh today and into next week, but no idea how much. Temps were in the upper 40's early in the week and cooled down to the low 30's by Thursday.
If you know where to go off trail you can still find untracked areas but they are getting fewer and fewer. If you're the type that is dying for deep powder you will be disappointed. It is more like spring riding right now. If you like to be able to explore all over and climb up stuff you normally couldn't then it is actually fairly decent. Every day we went out we worried it would suck but we came in tired and sore at the end of the day with empty gas tanks after having a ton of fun. We got to places we've never been before and learned new areas. The shady sides of hills can still be full of powder - enough to get stuck in.
Trails were actually almost perfect. There is a great base and they have been grooming nightly. This is on CD, F, E, B, A, etc., in the area about 15 miles around the lodges. We didn't venture further north or south.
