Hows the 09 m8 compare with 2010 m8

I have an 09 that I put 2 Grand into to get 165-170hp, if I was to buy another sled tomorrow it would be a 2010 for sure. It has the added hp right out of the package. I am still waiting for slp to dyno a 2010 to see how it compares to a 09 with the performance package. The 09 with the performance package dyno'd at 169hp. I would be surprised to see the 2010 make that stock but even 160 stock is excellent. 160hp and full warrantee, I would go 2010 without a doubt.

What would you guys do? I have to decide if I should go with a demo 2010 M8 or a brand new 2009? I should put a cpc kit on it and don't know if I dare to go with the 2010? The 2009 motor seems to be bulletprof but it would be fun to do a 2010.. Help me out!

You get 2 years warranty 2010 and from what these guys are saying the 09 done up with some bolt ons and some motor work runs with the 2010. The extra cost you will have to spend on a 09 and your warranty will most likely be void from the mods depending on your dealer. I would say its a no brainier. But, I my self do not just go off dyno #s, frankly they mean shat! Ive seen the lower hp sled beat on the bigger claimed power one all day. Or this package will give you this much power, i like to hear real world testing and comparison and thats why i started this thread.:beer;

If you are willing to run stock and not mod out, the 2010 is worth the money and the way to go.

If you are one of those folks that can't leave well enough alone and have to mod your sled, then the 2009 might be a better bet for you, especially if you are going to turbo it. The 2010's have some major issues to overcome for turbo installation.

Don't the 10's have a lighter crank? I heard they spin up faster and have 4 lbs less weight than the 09's. If this is true how will the durabillity be for a turbo, or for stock even? I guess we can only speculate now. If the 10's turn out to be weak then my 09 will be lookin even better.

Yes, the 10's have a lighter crank and thats why I will go with the 09. I made up my mind yesterday. And yes, I will turbo it so thats why I was concidering the 09. Thanks for the input guys. ! :beer;

Correct, the 2010 crank is lighter. Also, the head on the 2010 has to be changed back to a 2009 head to run the turbo or you run into issues. Also, some of the turbo kits that worked on the 09's have to be reworked to work on the 2010's engine changes.
