Hows Fairfield lookin

Rode Fairfield yesterday and had a great ride. Lots of rocks on the open windy ridges. Searched out the powder all day on top in the trees. Tore up alot of mini bowls and shaded climbs but there is a lot left if you go find it. They've lost alot of snow in most areas. Be careful, my buddy took out an a-arm riding an open ridge.

We rode out Wells yesterday, I expect more new snow. Most areas had about 5 inches of new snow on top (just a guess, something like that). But there were areas with more powder, areas by the warming hut had blown around a lot. Since Trinity snowtel shows quite a bit of new snow I thought Wells would be better, but it's still thin in areas. It was pretty good riding though.

Thanks alot for the update. Sounds like they could use some more. I thought there would be more too especially after watching the snow report on Soldier Mountain's website. Oh well, guess I'll be heading north this week.

Yeah, thats the second time we've been fooled by soldier. The riding was fair. Not much new snow. Lets just say we only had snow on the hoods a few times:(. The only good thing was we were the first ones to make tracks pretty much our whole ride. I'll be going to west mtn. or brundage as well next week.

West Mtn only got a few inches from the last storms so there isn't great snow, ridable and some pow in the trees. Would consider McCall first. I will probably head that way wed. will report after.

I heard Bear Valley is really deep right now, think I'm gonna hit it on Tuesday. Got some work to do Tuesday morning so I'll be leaving a little late, thank goodness for the time change. Let you guys know how it is up there.

Chimney Creek park area or Soldier park area???

I fought wildland fire in this area (Cow Creek Fire) in 2007. A local told me that there is some great riding from the Chimney Creek Parking area. We are riding Council/McCall for 2 days then headed to Island Park. Where would anyone that knows the Sldier Mtn./Smoky Dome area suggest to ride this Thursday? Should be some fresh snow! There will be 4 of us total; we like to boondock and climb. 1 turbo M7, 1 M1000, 1 M800 LE, and 1 M7. Technical riders.... so if someone wants to lead us into something it won't be a problem. Looking at the map, it appears like the better riding could be from the Soldier Rd. Parking lot. What do you all think??? Call me if you don't mind. 775-304-0088
THANKS,
John

Good luck finding snow... I went through the cat creek area last week heading to Sun Valley and there is no snow at the parking lot before Fairfield and Chimmny Creek looked the same. There might be enough snow at Soldier Mt area but with all the sage brush out there the snow melts pretty quick.

Here are two recent pictures from the pine turnoff.

Is there access to the mountains????

Can a guy get to the mountain snow? There has to be quite a bit of riding left in the mountains???? The snow level is very high here in Council, but driving a bit further up the road payed off! Council Mountain was awesome yesterday, not a track in sight!

There might be access if you have a sled deck or small two place trailer that you can unhook and turn around by hand. It's been a couple years sense I've rode there in the spring like this.
