Hows Fairfield lookin

I was there Tuesday and it was really good. The groomer was in the creek, but it looked like they were heading in to get it out when we were leaving. Have to watch for rocks in some spots as usual up there, but all in all really good on Tuesday. I imagine it's getting pretty crusty up there now.

We rode west mtn. on saturday, It was crusty. Went to fairfield on sunday. It was way better than west mtn. The snow was still powder :). It was a blue bird sunny day. We did alot of climbing and only uncovered a couple rocks with the tracks. Should be sweet with all the snow today, plus the storms to come. Oh and watch your speed when you turn off the highway in town. I got busted right before the speed limit went to 40. Cop was behind a snow mound. He gave me a ticket for going 35 in a 25. All the good riding made be forget about the ticket.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like a great day besides the ticket. I see a cop right through there almost every time I go there. See them all the time between Mountain Home and that first grade on the way up too.

Am I right for assuming that it was an Elmore Co. deputy? I travel Simco road several times a day, and those guys will get you for anything that they can. They got one of our drivers for doing 4 MPH over the posted speed limit. That's freakin rediculous! Guess they have nothing better to do..........

I was up there on Sunday too. It was a little wind beaten in a few areas, but a lot of powder too. There were a lot of people, but we were able to find some good spots nobody had ridden. Think we'll be going back out soon as we get some sun.

Malcomson Snowmobile Park -Today

Hwy. was bare and dry all the way from Boise to Malcomson today. No rain as in Idaho City and North of there. Wind was really blowing on top of the ridges. No fresh snow in a couple of days. Snow was pretty firm but really wet and a little hard to make sharp turns at slow speeds. Otherwise you didn't pack it down much and could go about anywhere. Five rigs in the whole parking lot. Still a few rocks showing on top of the ridges. Even had a little sun from time to time.

Flat riding in fairfield?

I was wondering if there is alot of flat riding in fairfield because my wifes sled is a 86 polaris 440 and am not sure what type of riding that sled is good for. I would be taking my girls w/us so I wouldn't be doing anything crazy but I have never been out there so any info would be appreciated

Fairfield is awsome for girls. Lots of little rolling hills. You take a trail back to a warming hut. Then there is a loop you can ride. Girls love fairfield because of the warming hut it is right in the middle if all the riding.

What kind of riding does she do? There are groomed trails going to the warming hut, and all over the place out there. Lots of low angle hills and stuff where she could play off the trail... The snow was good, but the weather says like 34-38 degrees for several days. Snow won't be good for long, if it still is. We have a muddy mess here. Hardly any snow left.

Uh.......YES. Its groomed all the way. It all depends on the snow. Fairfield is one of the easiest places to ride. Im pretty sure a snow scoot, or artic kitty could make it.:beer;

rev800151......just to let you know the cops in fairfield will get anyone doing 26 in a 25 that doesn't have camas county plates especially if your from the valley. And just to let yall know that don't go up very often there is a state cop that lives just outside mt home and he works a lot between mt home and cat creek summit. There is another one that likes to sit at the pine featherville turn off on sundays. And one of the camas county cops likes to sit anywhere he can find a spot with in about 3miles of fairfield coming up.

Yeah thanks avidrec. I saw the state cop car up on the east slope out side of mt. home. There was a car that was stopped in the same place I was in fairfield today. They have quite the speed trap goin on.

anyone been to fairfield lately? just wondering how things look up there thinking about going up nextwknd for a couple days. Just don't want to drive all the way up there if its ****ty.

Just got home, foot of fresh on top, six" at the lot, firm and fast underneath, climbing was good, lots of high speed descents, (too high speed). Plenty of rocks to dodge still. We had a great ride, but it could use another storm before I would go back. Snow in the forecast tonight.....
