How's Crowfoot?

Anyone been to Crowfoot this year? Can you get to Grizzly yet? Cheers:beer;:D

Hi there Skinz,
Some one posted pictures from Crowfoot on snowandmud.com. I think they are from a couple of days ago. Any luck on a trailer? Are you and Tyler riding this weekend? I am supposed to be going Thursday after work. Get Tyler to call I'll PM you# as I lost yours and Tyler's. Conditions are looking good for this weekend.

Cheers,
Dave

Just received a newsletter from the club, trail has been groomed from parking lot to first cabin and across mountain to playpen #2 & marker stakes are out.

Not sure about the grizzly situation, but have heard a lot of people have already been up.

Thanks for the info BC-XP! Smokindave, I think we are going to head to Frisby this weekend.:beer;

I am pretty sure thats were we are going to go being that it closes on Monday. We should still hook up and sled together again.

Cheers
Dave

C man

you think it will be alright then? i mean anything should be better then around the mainland right now, what day you going up? myself and a buddy are still trying to figure out where to go but crowfoot is only about 4 hr drive so we would prolly leave saturday morning early if we came up...ive never ridden there i hear its real good but can get very foggy? its either come to crowfoot or go to sicamous, or revy....crowfoot is closest

rode there on sunday. i'd estimate about 4 feet up top. it was foggy and kinda wet. should be better now with the colder weather. there were a few climbs to be had, but in some cases we uncovered some rock. the base will probably be a little more solid by this weekend though. unloading at the first parking lot wasn't a problem. took the sheep trail up, as well as the face below the cabin. no grooming on sunday though, so that is something new.

crowfoot can get pretty foggy sometimes, but i dont care i just want to ride!
suppose to be clear as can be on sunday, and it will be cold this weekend so bundle up:D

has anyone been up there reasontly? i want to go really bad but not sure how much snow is up there so if anyone could tell me i would appreciate it alot

thanks!

oh yeah, watch out for creeks when crossing the ridge to get back to the playpens. ussually its all rollers and fun jumps, but on sunday there were creeks at the bottom of every little gully. would hurt bad if you went pounding through there at top speed. might be ok by the weekend if the weather forcast is actually accurate this time.

Crowfoot

Yes there was a lady killed there, she apparently had hit a cattle gaurd, sorry short on details, from Alberta though...

Sorry for the loss!!

yup my local buddy says she went off the right side after the cattleguard before the bridge, **** its steep their.....

Thoughts

We are sorry for the families loss. Crowfoot is such a great place for families and happiness, that it's almost unbelievable that such a tragedy could take place. Our thoughts and prayers go to the family.

On another note about saftey, last year my family and I were riding up to the chalet when we had a most disconcerning incident. I stopped at the bottom of the fireguard to let my son on his Phazer go ahead and follow up behind with my wife bringing up the rear. while going up we encountered another group pulled off to the side. We waved, they waved and we continued on. Up a couple of hundred yards my son suddenly reacted tucking down and leaning to the right. As he did this a young man in his twenties, at a high rate of speed jumped over my son and his machine coming down the guard! Missing hitting my son by mere inches! If my son hadn't tucked down, the aforementioned individual would have taken his head off! The rush seeker was performing jumps off of the cross trails while traveling down hill, he wasn't even wearing a helmet. My wife wouldn't let me go and talk to the individual, stateing that no good would come of that. My son was obviously very shaken and distraught by the incident, so we continued on to the chalet to calm down. While we were up there the group also arrived at the chalet, knowing I was extremely P----- at them, a spokesmen for the group appologized. This was appreciated however the wanton recklessness of the group could have been fatal. My point being if you are prone to pulling brainless and uncontrolled stunts in public area's, find another hobby that dosen't effect others! Where were the spotters? Any how I hope that this year as we will be there shortly goes without this kind of trouble. Happy sledding.

if the group that waved you through was supposed to be spotting the trail for the jumper, both you and the jumper are justified in being pissed at those guys. if the jumper was just hitting it without a spotter, he's an idiot for taking that chance on such a high traffic area.
