Just wondering if anyone has been to Buff. lately? Thinking of heading west next weekend. Thanks in advance.

Can't get reading from the Tower site but others in the area are reading 21+ inches. If it keeps snowing and stays cold it could be really good next weekend. At least good enough to venture off the roads a bit. Still a bunch of stumps and rocks lurking beneath the surface of the pow.

From the looks of the snotel precip alone, Buff is doing very well. Never showed up on radar, but I knew it was getting hammered. Always does:D

Went up for about 4 hours today.Lots of powder and lots of people stuck.Two weeks ago when I went up there was a little over 2' but it's been nice out, Till this latest storm.

Sounds like it should be worth the drive from SD next weekend. How much new did they get out of this storm?

Mule, you azzhat! You were up here and you didn't give me a ring? I have plenty of time now, so I hope to get my pipe and head on this week. Keep your hopes up for the forecasted mountain storm that is supposed to hit tomorrow afternoon. Give me a call this time!:beer;:beer;:beer;

nest storm= going to dump. It always snows on buff pass. We rode yesterday the 1st for a couple of hrs in the afternoon. The snow has setup and wind loaded. It is pretty damn thick in the trees. Should be good again today and tomorrow and the next day and so awn. Bring on the good 3 foot powder days on buff!

If you are coming across hwy 40 from UT you pass through Steamboat to get to Buff/Ears. Buff is out the backside of the boat towards the Strawberry Park hot springs. Turn at the Post Office and follow the signs. It is easier to just head up the pass on 40 and head across from the ears. Staying in the boat is pricey but it is the closest town to the riding areas. Not much snow at the Ski area right now so it should not be hard to find a place to stay.

The town of Walden is just a few minutes east of Buff Pass, maybe 35ish. It's definitely a small town, but has a couple hotels. Might try there. Probably cheaper than the big town of Steamboat.

how long of a drive is it from steamboat to buff pass? Also where can I buy Colorado permits?
