If you are coming across hwy 40 from UT you pass through Steamboat to get to Buff/Ears. Buff is out the backside of the boat towards the Strawberry Park hot springs. Turn at the Post Office and follow the signs. It is easier to just head up the pass on 40 and head across from the ears. Staying in the boat is pricey but it is the closest town to the riding areas. Not much snow at the Ski area right now so it should not be hard to find a place to stay.is the closest place to buff pass steamboat springs? I'm considering a trip from Utah next weekend how do I get to buff pass from steamboat? Thanks.

The town of Walden is just a few minutes east of Buff Pass, maybe 35ish. It's definitely a small town, but has a couple hotels. Might try there. Probably cheaper than the big town of Steamboat.
